Putting together the Bat Cave 🚴

The gf and I just closed escrow on a new home and one of the first things we took care of was the stable of cycles. This home has an enormous ground level basement area that could probably be turned into another finished room but for now it’s cycle storage.

3 are missing from the pic 🤣🤣 the gf is actually worse about this than I am. However we ride between 3-5 days a week so they are put to good use.

I used thermo ply sheathing to put a ceiling in my crawl space. Easy to work with and a bit more durable than tyvek. Not sure if they even sell it anymore. I would also look into low voltage LED striplights to light that area. Might scare the bats though.

the terraced flooring in that basement is unusual.

Dirt floor? might want to add a dehumidifier.

Congrats on the new home! I’m jealous about that bike collection! Finishing off the ceiling would probably go a long way in improving the feel of the space, and would be pretty easy (a Saturday job for two people). My dream home includes a semi-finished basement that I use for a gear cave for all of our various outdoor adventuring hobbies.
