Another Bianchi Question
Hope people are not getting sick of these Bianchi questions but people are selling these bikes at a high price and it's hard to tell if they are legit. I would love to own a classic Bianchi but want to make sure I spend money on something legit. The high end models are not in my budget but would consider one of the lower end models.
Can someone look at this listing and tell me if there's some changes made to this bike? It looks like the rear derailleur is campy but the front derailleur appears to be Japanese (Sakae?). Would that be the original handle bar stem and brake levers?
Hopefully this can be seen outside of Canada

1. What is the BB shell width? 70mm indicates Italian.
2. Better yet, what is the BB cup diameter? 36mm is definitely Italian; 1.375" (35mm) is likely Japanese.
3. What is the seat post diameter? 27.2 indicates butted main triangle, likely Columbus or other CrMo.
Price seems high for me. Crankset is low end.

Too High....Celeste green is the way to go with Bianchi, there are a lot of bikes out there, don't worry if you pass on this one.

The rear derailleur is a replacement and it's 1990s Shimano Alivio, That's an early 1980s frame, circa 1982-1983. Almost certainly manufactured in Japan. It's got mismatched wheels. The front has a nutted hub and appears to have a steel rim, while the rear. has a quick release and appears to be aluminum. Replacement front wheels often indicate a front end crash but in this case the fork look straight and there's no telltale signs of damage behind the head lugs. Brakes and swaged crankset suggest upper entry level. Bars and stem are likely OEM, though the latter is probably beyond the safe height limit. Hamilton is close enough to be influenced by highly priced GTA market but this is still priced too high.

Thanks guys I really appreciate your feedback as I was planning to go take a look at the bike tomorrow and without your help I might have bought it. That price is more then what I was willing to pay but the market around here is insane, and believe it or not this is the best price I've seen with the title Bianchi in a market add (despite it not meeting up to what it was). People are listing old department store hunks of junk at $300 + with the title "vintage classic" and selling them with no problem, so to find a real quality bike is rare. When anything decent lists at a good price it's gone within the hour, sold sight unseen but through e-transfer.
T-Mar Yes Hamilton is close enough to cash in on the bike boom in the GTA though that wasn't the case a year ago.
I also agree that a Bianca bike should be Celeste green and will hold out until I can find one in that paint scheme and I can afford.

Nothing wrong with "charcoal" or any other color on a Bianchi, I have "Celeste" as well as a "Red" one. I thought the OP was after something to collect and as some have stated on this forum have stated "green" is the way to go.
In any event, any color of bike that floats your boat is fine with me personally I don't discriminate and that's my problem..at least that what my wife says when it comes to collecting bikes
