SMP saddle
Do any of you riders see many riders using the SMP saddles. They say they sell thousands of them a year, but I don’t see many while I’m out riding. Just curious.

I ended up getting a deal on a Lite 209 and rode it for about a year. I’ll could never get it setup quite right and have since moved on to the Bontrager Aeolus.
I rarely see others riding SMPs.

I see some, besides my own, but not a lot.
Probably about as rare as dozens of other types of saddles out there...

I have SMPs on my Roubaix and my Cannondale. They work for me. I do see them occasionally, but not that often. Guys in my club usually make a joke of my saddle, but I love it.

I ride a SMP TRK on my road bike and on my gravel/dirt bike. Over 13,000 miles combined on both so far in the past 35 months and I still love it.

I have SMP stratos models on both of my bikes. Read the website info on getting the right fit and padding. There are several models under each width, with different levels of padding. SMP assumes that larger riders with larger waist sizes will have wider sitbone widths and need wider saddles. The narrowest model with standard padding worked for me.
Setting the saddle angle is critical and posts with widely spaced serrations for angle adjustment may not work. I use a post with a two bolt rocker style clamp that allows very small angle adjustments

I guess I should have mentioned that I have a smp drakon. This is the second one as the top was coming off my first drakon at 3300 miles. I got the second one under warranty, with no problems at all. I was curious why you don’t see more on the road. I think it’s a pretty nice saddle. Thanks for all the replies.

I ride a Dynamic, but yeah, it’s unusual to see them, probably because they don’t come as stock equipment on an bikes in the USA market, and they’re not a major brand such that they would make it into the “company stores” which dominate the American bike retail scene. One generally has to go out of their way to get an SMP, and they’re expensive, so I think that paints a pretty good picture of why they’re ot more common.

I ride SMP extra's and have them on two of my bikes. I won't use any other saddle. They just work for me.

I'm a ride organizer for a 200 member club in my town, and can't recall ever seeing one of these. I know there isn't one among my typical crew of just over 20 riders. I've seen a few ISM saddles and even one Infinity saddle, but no Selle SMPs.

Drakon for me as well, after using the Lite for a few years. SMP's a bit more common around my area, perhaps because the importer is local. Drakon works for me pretty well.

I have a SMP Glider and it works very well for me. I don't see a lot in my area though (Mass) which may be partially attributed to what I consider a higher price for SMP then other brands.

LIte 209 on my Spec Roubaix...Hate the looks but love the ride. Regardless of how my hips are rotated while on the hoods or in the drops it plain works. It's weird. I have different saddles on other bikes that look cooler, much lighter, but, they just don't have the x factor fit & comfort for my profile.

What's the point of the dipped nose? No one sits on it so why not just cut it off?

IMO it allows the cutout to go all the way to the front and still have the sides connected.
Also reduces catching shorts on the nose and something to stabilize against when unweighting over bumps, etc.
