Step Through Bike Reviews
Hi
I need to donate my old bike, and get a step through bike with a low step (b/c of arthritis in my knees)
I am looking at a True Bicycle Step Through Nice Bike, three speed with has a 9 1/2 inch step over. Any reviews, comments or suggestions for alternatives. I looked at Electra Townie, and that step is too high
Thanks very much
Pat

This is what I ride
https://biria.com/bike/eb-lite-8-internal-nexus-8
low maintenance and just jump on and go. Good luck.
ed: the same maker also has other gearing available for the same frame.

Welcome! New bike designs like that Biria are what to look for. Any conventional frame is likely to be too much of a step. I ride a Raleigh Sports men's right now but have a ladies' version boxed in the loft for the time when I can no longer swing a leg over, and those tall mixtes look pretty good for road biking but I can see where they'd be too big a step for some. Good luck!
Wildwood, I like your "if I get old." A real consideration, that "if." Take care of yourself, so that if that time comes you'll be up for it.

We bought two Trek Verve "low steps." They're pretty bikes. Easy to get on, easy to get off. 21 or 24 speed depending on the model; wire or hydraulic disk brakes. Plenty of range to get up nasty hills. The tires are relatively large and low pressure--not "fat," but bigger than my old hybrid's. These bikes are extraordinarily stable at slow speeds, and on gravel and dirt. Trek has not earned my respect, but the bikes are great.

A 9 1/2 inch step order sounds awfully low to me. I think finding that is going to be a tall order.

step through bikes
Thank you to everyone who responded. I really appreciate your input. I will take a further look at the Biria as well as look at the other bikes mentioned. The Biria looks like the best bet, I had googled them earlier, but I don't know anyone with one, so wasn't sure if that was a good option.
You guys are terrific! Thanks for the help.

Last year I got my wife a Specialized Roll. single chainring and 9 speed in the rear. It has a very "upright" seating position.
She loves it.
