I thought you would find this interesting. I picked this up today. Its supposed to be a 2009 Trek 3700 heavily modified including polished up. The guy I bought it from said the PO chopped off the rear brake posts so now its a disc brake or nothing frame. It has everything except I need a mounting plate or something to get the rear one to work. I got basically a complete bike with disc brakes plus a bonus hub, wheel and some rims. I am not sure what I am going to do with this bike, but I have wanted to try out one with disc brakes so I guess I got my wish. Part of me wishes I had passed on the deal though.
Good luck with cheap disc brakes.

Theres such a thing as cheap disc's so long as you already have the wheels, heres an adapter that should work for that frame a buddy at work got one for his GF and it seems to work finehttps://cgi.ebay.com/Rear-disc-brake-...item2eb28627ac

The disc brakes turned out to be crap. Oh well, I can get my money back transferring the good stuff over to a good old steel frame. If I was serious about this bike I would put some nicer stuff on it anyway. There are some spots he missed in taking paint off and the bottom bracket isn't the best. I don't have the cash to buy real disc brakes right now and I don't feel like messing with that so I'll just hold onto the frame for now. Its the first poor buy of the year and probably one of the only ones I have had in quite a while. I still got a couple decent things off of it.

The good thing is I am excited about building up one of the steel frames in the garage. I think the small framed 1993 Hardrock Ultra is the best cadidate. It still has pretty nice paint.

new commuter/touring bike in my garage..KHS Flite 220,250 euros, off season deiscount..

when I bought it it looked like this

after some changes

stock wheels replaced with novatec hubs + jalco d27 36h rims + no name spokes

2200 shifters replace with tiagra , rear 2200 derauliler with deore, deore cassete and chain..so now setup is 2x9 ..

this is low end road / commuter bike, one of the cheapest I think(bought on sale for 250 euro).. but in Croatia I can't choose some touring/commuter dedicated bike like jamis aurora, trek 520 or surly lht.. there is no cr-mo frames at all to buy, this was only option, so I replaced some parts from my old commuter and made the best of it..

My winter beater:

First bike I ever bought in 1997 a Trek Mountain Track 800 Sport.

Most has been changed minus the headset, BB, front wheel, and frame of course. This thing get's a lot of miles especially as a loaner bike or when my main is in the shop. Just put linears on this year and the improvement is there but not as much clearance as the old canti's (factory original).

Got Fisty setup with reflective tape today for commuter mode, will try to add more to the sides of the bike I just don't want to get it on the paint since this stuff doesn't seem to come off when set (resale options in future), I'm thinking the cranks would be a good place.

47c Smart Sam

The Soma Double Cross was on my short list but the Vassago Black Friday deal sent me over the edge and it has crazy amounts of tire clearance (29x1.9).

@xb_Nutt: How did you get the rear caliper mounted on the inside of the chainstays? All the pics on Soma's site show the caliper mounts outboard.

I believe one of the years they did the brakes on the chainstay like that @ 2005?

That's the way it came. I was pleasantly surprised about the rear disc caliper relocation to the chainstay. Makes fender and rack install a breeze. They got rid of the downtube shifter bosses though, that I wasn't thrilled about since I had a set of downtube shifters I was going to use for the build. Their site makes no mention of the changes. I even emailed them and asked about it, but got no response. You would think they would update their site or at least add some text alluding to the changes...

Its one of the stock photos from Revopower. Yep, it's a Cannondale.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RevoPower

Total vapourware. This product never made it to the market, was delayed over and over, and the company website disappeared.

It's hardly a new idea, or anything revolutionary. Look up rotary engine, it's been used over 120 years ago.

Check out the Megola motorcycle in particular, it's pretty sweet.
