Hi from Kansas City
I've enjoyed cycling for decades, and I'm a new member to the forum. Looking forward to much good conversation and meeting new cyclist cyber friends. I used to live in Ohio. There are lots of good riding roads there. Now, I live in the Kansas City area and I'm enjoying getting to know the roads here, too. Mainly, I ride solo, but sometimes in a group for a short club ride or a century. I love the freedom, adventure, health, friendship and, of course, the machines!
I've made 10 posts, so I can upload a picture. Here's my recent acquisition.

Welcome
Hey, and welcome the forum; dig the bike.
My day job gives me the opportunity to speak with many people passionate about bikes all over North America, and one place that surprised me with the great culture was Kansas City. It shouldn't have been such a surprise, after all Garmin calls Olathe home. If you are looking for some local information, check out the KC Group Ride Podcast. JP does a great job highlighting what make KC a great place to ride.

Yes, I’ve lived here 4 years and it has been quite a pleasant surprise from day one. There are lots of riders and group rides. I just subscribed to the podcast and I’ll be listening soon!
Thanks for the tips and for sayin’ hello.

Great bike and glad to see a fellow KC resident w/interest in vintage road bikes. Perhaps we’ll cross paths out there. Keep an eye out for pot holes, though. It’s a nasty mine field this spring.

I'm originally from Boonville, which is one of the towns on the Katy Trail. I used to ride my bike quite a bit on the Katy.

I’ve been riding solo in recent years, with my road bikes hanging up on racks collecting dust. I live and work in the Plaza and Westport areas so it’s been more fun and practical for me to ride urban-tired mountain bikes on the crappy midtown streets. However, at least for this year I’m drawn to riding vintage steel road bikes, which is what I started out with back in the 70’s. You have any suggestions for group rides?

There’s group ride info at https://www.cyclingkc.org/ and a podcast called the KC Group Ride.

KC’s critical mass rides are entertaining and nothing like any other organized ride I’ve done in the past 40 years. I was about to post a photo of my MINI folding bike that I rode during the July 2016 CMR but I haven’t met the forum’s minimum post rule yet. Where else could you expect a spontaneous street dance to pop up only 30 minutes into a ride?

Yes, it's an excellent social ride! LOTS of fun. Meeting informally at the SunFresh parking lot at like 6:30pm, taking off at like 7:30-8pm and I quit early at like 11pm. My light died on the way back!
I've heard of Critical Mass rides that are more "activist," and perhaps this has to do with the type of city. KC seems to embrace it as part of the local culture. At least most motorists flex with it.
