Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

How feasible is a 100% US-made road bike these days?

Reading the "Chinabike" threads made me wonder:

How feasible is a 100% US-made road bike these days?

Is it possible to do? Or are there bike parts that are just not made in the US anymore?

I'd think the frame is easy enough. What about a fork? Is Enve US-made?

Groupset? Are there any US-made groupsets?

Wheels? Anything built in the US in regards to wheels?

Just how feasible is this today?

Frames are made in the US. Forks I'm sure you can find too. Wheels? Sure.

Groupset is where it gets tricky. That and the other stuff like seats, bar tape, etc.

Why don't you try to assemble one first to disapprove it?

You might have to go friction shifting if you want 100% USA made. Not sure there are any bicycle tires and tubes made in the USA.

The fact is that you aren't going to see or build such a machine.

Derailleurs and shifters are the biggie, but handlebar and chain will be stoppers, as will tires.

Let's start with forks. Is there a US made carbon fork out there?

Are you sure about that? What companies are manufacturing rims, hubs and spokes in the USA?

Frame & Forks and wheels would be possible as noted.
Enve Seatpost, stem, bars are US made. Chris King headset.
Top Tier components not so much.
I'd probably go Dura Ace, it's made in Japan.

This. Thomson manufactures in the US, so seatpillar, stem, and bars should be covered. Chaadster covered the wheel build. White Industries gets you the freewheel or cog. There are several boutique crankset manufacturers. Tape, tubes, and tires may be the only hold ups.

Are the Enve bars USA made? Their wheels, yeah, but the rest?
