33 miles at the MUP this morning. The footbridge was flooded out so it cut several miles off of my normal route and forced me to do more laps around the loop. Started getting a bit monotonous during the 4th lap so I stopped at 4. Too bad because it was a perfect day to do the 44 mile ride I had originally planed on doing.

I participated in good friend-Pete Cornell's 100 Mile Memorial Ride today. As Pete would have liked it, I did some extra miles by myself heading back to the starting point into a head wind. Total 109 miles.

23 miles with Mrs. a mix of road, back street, paved MUP, stopped at the LBS to have new brake pads on the wife's bike. Got sprinkled on on the way home but didn't really get wet so it was good!

Yes, but no more precise, alas.

We had some out-of-town friends visiting who have a tandem back home, so they rented a tandem and we rode the MM Bikeway from Bedford to Cambridge and back with them, making today's total 42.23 miles. I rounded off because I got tired of typing.

Reprised a ride I did last spring when it was freezing cold, and had a pretty great ride. I actually still got cold though. It was in the low 60s up in the mountains.

101 miles from Sperryville, VA up to Skyline Drive, down to Rt 33 into Stanardsville and over to Madison, and back via Syria. About 8.6K of climbing. Had a bit of rain for the last ten miles but it was very, very light, and actually quite pleasant.

I did the Shenandoah Bike Festival ride out of Harrisonburg Va. I did the Century in 5 hr 53 min. The info says 8000 ft of climbing....not sure if that is accurate but there were lots of little hills.

23 nicely shaded miles on a slow to moderate speed ride with the Sunday Bicycle Riders group. New riders made for some new friends and interesting conversations.

18 miles yesterday with some friends on hybrid bikes so I rode the mountain bike. First ride of any consequence on this bike since I rebuilt it last year. We came across a roadside sign announcing "PIES", but I couldn't convince anyone in the group to stop. Another day perhaps when I'm riding alone.

I think this the the third time this season I've come off a long break. This last one was a 5 week hiatus caused by my trip to the Yukon, BC and SE Alaska. I got home late Sunday night, 1am Monday really and tried to join the Tuesday night bike shop ride the next day. Wow was that painful, still tired from the long travel home. Yesterday I met NealH for the Roan Moan, a metric (or century) here in WNC. We got to the start but the weather was very poor with heavy rain in the area. We bagged the organized ride and headed SW behind the rain for the Pigeon Loop, a 45 mile favorite with 4000' of climbing. We had great weather, thus justifying the decision to bag the metric. I took my time and got through the ride without too much suffering.

Today we met in Black Mountain and did an awesome 34 mile loop with very little traffic and 3000' of gain. I felt pretty good for a second day. Maybe I'll make a third comeback this year and find some form before the snow flies.

I got out for a mostly relaxed 50 kilometers. The first half, I found some hills in nearby residential areas to get that out of my system, and the second half taking it easy on the shaded Greenway. Not exactly intense training but it was fun.

Rode 40 km today, first ride in what felt like forever. Also first ride since going on beta blockers for htn. No land speed records or Strava KOMs were set. Still fun.

So, who got out on the tandem today on the SART wearing the 50+ jerseys? I was the one who yelled "Bike Forums" at you. There were three of us from the C/A forums doing a family ride. Got the kids out for a "quick" 25 miles. Beautiful day.

Did 46 miles this am with perfect weather; it never broke 70 degrees. This ride features almost exactly 50'/mile which makes for a nice workout without any real climbs. This was also my first ride with new wheels and tubeless tires; big thumbs up for the tubeless tires, but we'll have to see how they work out in the long term.

Did my favorite ride today, solo. 31 miles, 2000 vertical feet. A little downtown on trail, scenic path. Here's a link to the ride: https://connect.garmin.com/activity/349937213

Got a little hot at the end, mid 80's but total sun.

Record low temp this morning - in the 50's at the start of the club ride. Beats riding in record low winter temp (or record high temps).
Compared to last summer's heat and drought resulting in stunted corn and brown vegetation everywhere, it is nice to see lush green stuff wherever you look, especially the tall corn:
From this morning's club ride. I rode 28 miles. Intended to do more but when I checked my rear brake at the 14 mile SAG, found that one of the (disc) brake pads had fallen out. Even though the ride was pretty danged flat (aside from a short steep climb near the start - Fishback Creek hill) I headed back from the SAG.
When I got home, I dope-slapped the fellow who had worked on the brake yesterday - me - and put new pads in. Very carefully this time.
