Flat Mount Caliper bracket compatibility?
After searching around for an answer to this question, I've come up empty. I'm building up a 2019 Trek Domane slr that I purchased as a new frameset, have Ultegra R8050 hydraulic direct mount calipers, 160mm rotors, but my bikes native rotor size without adapters is 140mm. Question is, can I use either Sram or Shimano adapters to fit the 160's or are they different somehow? I know with most mtb setups, brands mean nothing because the mounting standards are the same so you can mix and match but what about a road bike with flat mount brakes?

For road flat mount you can mix adapters.

I just built a bike using TRP spyre flat mount brakes and a SRAM 140 to 160 rear adapter and had an issue with the adapter not exactly matching the caliper. The SRAM adapter had a recessed area for the brake to mount on the adapter and the TRP caliper had a sharper radius corner(more square) than the recess, which caused the caliper to hang up and not sit flush with the adapter. It was easily fixed by putting the adapter in the mill and cutting a bit out of the corner, but there are some inconsistencies between brands.

They did not come with the adapters, I purchased them as a take off set of shifters and calipers online. Since this is a new build, I'm selecting all parts to be the lightest option available within reason and price point. The rear Shimano adapter is 55g and the Sram is only 11g so 44g savings is not much by itself but will add up over the complete build if I trim fat where I can. If the Sram adapter is not compatible I'd just buy the Shimano, eat the 44g and call it a day.

There’s no way the Shimano flat mount adapter is 55 grams. Where did you see that? Perhaps that weight included the thru-the-chainstay bolts? You’ll need those no matter which adapter you use.

You can buy 140, or 160, or 140/160 (below). I don't believe that the 140/160 adapter could weigh 55 grams (which is a bit under two ounces, btw).
