Woohoo, Mexican Coke. 😎

No, not that kind, lol, Coca-Cola. 😁 Made in Tijuana, Baja California, with good ole cane sugar. A 12 oz. bottle cost me $1.63 after tax, so I’ll probably stick with my off-brand Shasta. That’s usually $1.00 for 2 1/2 liters, quite a difference. 😉

Still, a bottle of the good stuff once in awhile is nice. 🙂

Real cane sugar beats HFCS everyday. It's healthier than whatever it is they put in diet pop too.

My grocery store (in IA) generally has it. I don't know if it's the cane sugar or something else in the formulation, but it's lovely in comparison to the regular stuff. I try to have it on hand for any mixed drinks involving Coke.

One of the benefits of living in Southern California is that there are plenty of Mexican/Central American grocery stores (Even some chain stores!) and they all sell it. I'll have to check, but its way cheaper than the $1.63 the OP mentions (I think with tax and deposit its only about $1). A Rum & Coke made with Mexican coke is SO much better than one made with the regular corn syrupy stuff. .

Hmm, I've never heard this "Mexican coke," perhaps because I don't drink Coke. It didn't stop me from consulting with professor Google though.
Found you can get a 24 bottle case from Amazon for $22.95. Also, this entry from Smithsonian Magazine.

Oh geeze, I lived through the WTO riots in Seattle. I was working for Amazon when they were still new, through a temp agency, during the holiday season. Because of the riots, I had to walk home instead of taking a bus. Around 5 or 6 miles, in a mix of rain & snow. I got the flu bad, & they fired me for missing 3 days work. 🙄🙁

Around here we can occasionally find the Pure Cane Sugar soft drinks - even 'Throwback' Mountain Dew if you need a REAL sugar/caffeine rush!

Maine Root Mexicane Cola is my favorite for that type of stuff. The flavor is delicious and it is fair trade and organic cane sugar. I also like the Boylan's Cane Cola. Though I would rather have the Maine Root Blueberry if not a good cream soda like Virgils or Flying Cauldron Butterscotch beer.

I didn't know that stuff existed until the first day of my 2013 cross-PA tour. It was riding the GAP. Warm, humid day with a headwind. Some kids had a refreshment stand set up next the trail. Among the drinks they had was old school Mountain Dew. That stuff really did give me a rush.

Actually, I know exactly what you mean, but no, this wasn’t like that. Just a nicer flavor, with that little kick that could clean the rust off your wheels. 😁😉 I wonder what caused that syrupy thing? Maybe from getting too warm or cold, or maybe just past the expiration date, even though they didn’t have expiration dates back then? 🤔

Not a problem, that’s been 20 years ago now. And the voodoo hex I put on Amazon is finally starting to work (maybe). 😁😉

Aha, you said it right there. The soda jerks were mixing it stronger than “recommended”, I bet. 😁 I never knew they were called jerks back then either, read it a few times later. 🙂
