Fuji, Royale? s12-2?

https://williamsport.craigslist.org/...553442755.html
Hard to tell from the picture, but the appearance of lugs, and the chrome socks on the fork, lead me to think this is a Royale or a s12-s. oh and 18 speed looks like maybe s12-s? Reflectors and top-tube cable guides looks like 81-83.
Any one have ideas? Can't get a good look at the seat stay cluster.

At $40, you should buy now, ask questions later.

Set up like a 1981 to 1983 18-speed Fuji S12S with SunTour DT Power Shifters. Wrong seat post and saddle for that model. Upgraded triple chain wheel. At that price, I would buy it just for the chain wheel and Power Shifters. Nice deal!

yes to the great triple, and yes to what *appears* to be a 1st gen long-cage Cyclone on the rear. There's your forty bucks right there...

thank you all. I was definitely thinking along those lines as well. somewhat out of my way so wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something before I made the trek.

Right? I was thinking looked like s12s, although the steerer tubes all seem to match color on the DT, and this does not, which has thrown me off. And clearly seat/post different.
Thanks also for facilitating the photo. Using wifes computer and new to it.

The fork crown also isn't chrome. I would be all over that around here, unless it was completely trashed. Definitely has seen a few changes made over the years, but they look like they were for the better.

Wow! that brings back memories. The Fuji S12-S was my first descent bike. I spent a lot of hours, and thousands of miles on mine. Being a beginning rider at 35, I appreciated the "granny" ring on the crank. Fond memories for sure. The shifters, crank set, and derailleurs are worth way more than $40. Mine new in '82-83? was $300. Buy it!!

I ended up picking it up yesterday, photos to follow. Owner was proud to state that he adjusted the handlebars that way. First thing I addressed, didn't want to transport the thing home on my roof with it looking like that.

Enjoy the rehab. I picked up a 1979 Fuji Grand Tourer 12-speed from a neighbor for $40. After my restoration, I sold it in 2 days for $395.

Nice deal. Looks like it started life as a Royale. Somebody made a lot of nice changes. Does the triple work smoothly on it? Looks like newer tires! Brake lever hood covers, bar tape and saddle look in good shape. Black paint job, which is easiest to touch up. Bargain him down from $40? .

I don't think it started life as an S-12S. The geometry doesn't look correct. Look how close the rear tire is to the seat tube. On the S-12S I had, the frame had relaxed touring geometry. The seat post/clamp/saddle are not correct, the front derailleur was also a Cyclone on mine, and the rear was not a black Cyclone. The crank set was a Sugino with FUJI embossed in the arms. Also the rear dropout had the RD hanger, it wasn't a separate claw hook. Whatever it actually is, it's worth $40 for sure. I'm glad you rescued it .......

that seems to make the most sense. At first I thought not, with the cable guide clamps, but the catalog for "81 Grand SE has braze-on cable guides as well. Same handlebars, stem, saddle, and brakes, I believe. Catalog doesn't make mention of drop-outs.

But thoughts on an '82 Royale II, note the DT shifters and same FD.

EDIT: OR.. an '83 Del Rey: Quad butted Valite
