Rhode Gear?
I used a set of Rhode Gear rear panniers in the 1980’s-1990’s. The bags still look and work fine, but the nylon and welded aluminum rack broke after a few years use.

Here's my Trek 720 adorned with a relatively full set of Cannondales-
The front panniers are the "lightweight" ones- not the thicker cordura.

Anyone know where to get replacement springs?
I finally found my set of front Cannondale Panniers. But the springs are worn like heck and I would like to replace them. Anyone know where I can get replacements?
I'm in Canada, if that helps for where to get things.
Cheers.

I have a pair of Kirtlands (+ handlebar bag) that I bought new in about 1980. However, I think I'm going to retire them in favor of some Frost Rivers. I really like the design of the FRs and to my eye at least, they look more vintage than all the vintage bags out there.

Go India
IMHO if you want old school panniers, they have to be leather. These ones cost a hundred bucks delivered.
The leather is treated organically, if you believe that is important, but they look the bollocks

They look like someone tried yanking them off the rack before unhooking the loops at the bottom. I'd be inclined to just take a pliers and curl the stretched-out ends of those springs back into shape. There should be a plastic sleeve over the body of the spring too. Other than that the springs look fine.

Yeah, they could likely be straightened. Personally I'd replace them with modern nylon cinch straps, or even high quality bungees. I guess the vintage style crudeness of actual steel springs is kind of cool in a way though. You could also check the local hardware store.

Another alternative could be to use something like Jandd uses on their bags and sells as replacement parts.
