Always look first to see if they downgraded the components a level, such as from Tiagra down to Sora. Though the dollar is fairly strong right now, I doubt if it has moved enough to change costs that much.

Agree with Robow, but some prices have gone down for other components too. I see pedals in stores that cost more a few years ago than they do now.

Could be some parts/companies in the supply chain moved production from a Taiwanese factory to mainland China. Even though Trek is known to favor US production, the components are still coming from overseas.
