Any love for OLMOs?

Here's a shot from way back in 1985 climbing some hills. I just got my new SL tubed OLMO with some Campy ,Cinelli, Modolo brakes and Ambrosio wheels. Took this bike with me to Hawaii, Japan and back to Cali. I miss My first Italian Bicycle, wish I still had it.

Lets see those OLMO's

There a nice (and expensive) Olmo Competition on Colorado craigslist, nice looking bike in excellent condition.

Perhaps a friendly mod could merge threads?

Don't have, do want. I will enjoy this thread.

There are pics of my Olmo Competition in the other thread, but let me add a shot of the pantographed cranks and chainrings. This was one of their models where they pantographed just about everything.... cranks, seat post, shift levers, brake levers and calipers, and stem. Very fun.

Frankly, I'd rather own and ride these so called "2nd tier" brand bikes than the "usual" Colnago De Rosa or Cinelli......
Why just want what everybody wants??

I wouldn't call any of these bikes 2nd tier. Especially if your comparing them to a colnago.

I really like that 1960, which has very similar equipment to my Capo of the same era. Half-step gearing, Brooks Pro saddle -- what's not to like?

I am impressed by the condition of your chrome. Chrome is the first thing to degrade where I live.

Thanks. Well the bike came from SoCal originally. The bike came from Valley Cyclery in Van Nuys before migrating to the midwest to spend its senior years. I'm thinking that the winters in Des Moines plus life in a garage were good for the old girl's chrome.

I don't think you have to bust on Colnago and other "first tier" bikes in order to build up your love of Olmo's.

It's definitely not C&V, but I thought the chrome OLMO Zeffiro VCTs were sexy. There was a frame on ebay for a while like this one, but with blue instead of the red. It was hot.

"First tier", "second tier", whatever. Is there even such a thing or is just really an opinion.

Not my bike, a former eBay listing of an Olmo Super Gentleman in Columbus Zeta with full pantographed Campagnolo Gran Sport.

Q; Any love for OLMOs?

A: Olmost none.

Disclaimer: The above joke was precipitated by an irresistible straight line and should not be construed as an expression of the author's opinion of Olmo bicycles.
