Litespeed T6 Water Bottle Cage Rivet Spins

Just bought a very lightly used 2018 Litespeed T6 from someone. They shipped the water bottle cage bolts in a separate box, so when I went to screw them in one of them would not go in and had the rivet spinning

Spinning rivet

is this an easy cheap fix for a LBS? Will they drill out the rivet or just tighten it up? It shouldn't damage the titanium?

your advise is appreciated

Thanks

You can most likely fix it yourself...There are a couple youtube videos that explain the problem and repair. Or an LBS can probably do it. It's most likely a three-minute job that involves no drilling.

Edit to add: here you go.

+1 to the post above. I’ve done this type of repair at home myself with common tools, a large washer and a long bolt. If you are nervous about attempting a repair, any decent bike repair shop can fix it.

Good luck!

It's a pretty easy fix. If you can hold the rivnut enough to get a water bottle bolt into it, you are most likely able to tighten it back up. If the threads are stripped, just remove it with a dremmel tool and install a new one. If you remove the rivnut, just make sure there is a big enough hole in the headtube/downtube junction or BB/downtube junction to get the old rivnut out. I made a video a couple of years ago demonstrating the process I use.
