Finished up the Masi
The Masi is finished, almost a year and a half after I actually bought the bike. The paint was touched up by Duane at chestercycles.com. You'll notice the Roadlink, which lets the RD clear a 30t cog.
Build info:
1988 52cm Masi Nuovo Strada - got some additional info so I'm going with 1988, unless someone has better info
Tange Falcon cartridge bearing headset
10sp Chorus levers
Comp Triple FD
Chorus medium cage RD
Campy 115mm Italian BB
Chorus 12-30 cassette
Comp Triple 52-42-32 (was originally a 30t small ring but I replaced that with a 32t to help the chain wrap a bit)
Wippermann Connex 10s chain
Chorus dual-pivot calipers
Campy cable set
Chorus hubs, Mavic tubular rims, DT Swiss spokes, laced by me
Vittoria Corsa Speed G+ tubulars
no-name 27.2 seatpost (for now)
Fabric Scoop Race saddle - TI rails
Cinelli 1A stem
Cinelli 64-40 handlebars
Bontrager Grippytack bar tape
Xpedo M-Force 3 SPD pedals
Thanks to @RobbieTunes for some of the parts and help getting the shifting dialed in.
Here's some photos:

SD,
You've done an incredible job on the build, I have been looking for one of these for quite a while....Just Super!

Hi,
congratulations, the overall effect is very harmonious.
The combination of rims and tires is particularly pleasing. Real vintage feeling. What kind of tires are they? To what extent did the painting need to be improved?

The tubulars are Yellow Jersey tubs, and will be replaced by some Vittoria Corsa tubs very soon. The paint touch-up was not extensive, mainly some scratches on the seatstays and the top tube. All of the decals were perfect and weren't touched. After the touch-up the frame was clearcoated. Duane does very nice work.

I concur! Very nice! That is quite a wide range of gearing!
Any issues with the Road Link such as a sacrifice in shifting precision over the smaller cogs in order to have the capability to access that low 30 tooth cog?
I suspect that better braking performance is the reason behind the Kool Stop pads but couldn't you get similar stopping power from some more original Campy pad holders with Kool Stop inserts? Those long universal/V-brake/canti posts look a little too garish to my eye.

@masi61, I have Campy brake pads enroute, and they will go into the original Campy holders. The the Koolstops will be gone, from this bike anyway.
The first set of Campy pads I bought didn't fit the holders properly, so I used what I had to get the bike on the road. The original Campy holders and pads will look much better.
Shifting is pretty good across the range, better than I thought it would be. If only there was a long cage Campy Chorus rear derailleur... But I've never seen one. The medium cage I bought for this build was pricey enough.

A long and deservedly painstaking build. Dale is just enough OCD (OK, a lot OCD) with his builds, and they show it. His Masi and Lemonds are showroom stuff. He has another that I like even better, but I'm not going to out that one.
The Roadlink was not supposed to work, or at least is not claimed to work, on Campy. It did in this case, and on a triple. So now, it's Italian, it's marvelous, and it climbs.
His builds have convinced me to use Duane at chestercycles.com for my touchups, too.
Now, about that all Campy thing....

The idea of using a road link with vintage Campy is such a cool idea. I have an 8 speed Ergopower Record shifter set and an 8 speed era (Athena or Chorus) short cage rear derailleur, both in good condition that I bought with the intention of trying this combo with a Shimano 7 speed rear cassette application.
I heard that Shimano 7 speed cog spacing is the same as Campy 8 speed cog spacing so by setting the low limit screw on the 7 speed you can have a properly indexed 7 speed Shimano/Campy index cassette. Since I like racing triples I wanted to see if I could do a Shimano Dura Ace 7703 triple crank (for one example) with a Uniglide 12/23 7-speed close ratio Dura Ace 7400 cassette shifted with the mentioned Campy parts.
I guess one one just has to try out some of these ideas to see how they work. This is why vintage bikes are a hobby. We try things, sometimes they work swimmingly, other times they get mothballed as a learning experience. For my build mentioned above I’m really not sure if the Road Link would do anything for me since I’m not trying to run a 30 tooth cassette cog, what I really need is that longer cage to maintain good chain tension through the 3 triple chainrings.
One comment about your Masi frame color: Is that the original paint? It has a really great high gloss red but with a milky white undertone that is really classy. Did you buff it out yourself? What kind of polish/wax do you use to to bring up that excellent shine?

@masi61 - almost all of the paint is original, just some touch-ups on the seatstays and the top tube. Then Duane clearcoated over all of it. I didn't buff it at all, just used some Mothers carnuba(sp) wax after applying 3M paint film on the underside of the downtube and the top of the DS chainstay. I do this (and on the sides of lugless headtubes) on all of my builds. The 3M paint film is practically invisible and will prevent cable rub and almost all of the paint chips on the downtube. I have leftovers from when I had paint film installed on my Corvette.
I used the roadlink to clear the 30t cog, but if my RD would clear the largest cog I'm using then it's not needed. My chainwrap exceeds the maximum recommended, that's one reason I swapped the 30t small chainring for a 32t - to try and help out a little. The chain is long enough for big-big, as I didn't want to risk ruining the RD or the frame. I do have some sag in small-small but I don't use that combination so it's not a real problem. With the front triple, small-small is pretty severely cross-chained anyway.
I added the build info to the first post. When the new pads get here I'll install them into the original Campy holders and replace the Koolstops. I'll probably replace the seatpost with a Ritchey Classic, but I'm not in a hurry to do that. The main thing I need to do is to tape on the Vittoria Corsa tubulars.

Beautiful bike! The frame looks exactly like the one I bought new in '89, although mine was 60cm... stolen from a gf's garage back in 2003.

Nice work on a nice bike.
I run Campy 10 triple on my 'go everywhere' bike, but with CompTriple RD.

@speedevil, I see you are using a Campy 12/30 with a 52/42/32 Comp triple chainset. I'm a little surprised at the Roadlink was needed with the medium cage Campagnolo derailleur, but I guess it's consistent with my experience. The Campy Racing T rear mech is medium cage (74 mm).
I put a 13/29 with 50/34 on a bike with a medium cage Veloce and it worked well. I also have a 12/30 with a 50/34 on another bike with a long-cage 89 mm Campy Chorus derailleur, and it works well but I needed help to size the chain. But it's good. I guess with your 12/30 it was a tradeoff between a Roadlink or seeking out a long-cage Campy rear mech. I know Campy long-cage are not easy to find!
