bladed spoke too big
went to the bike shop and they gave me a spoke, i didnt bother to check it, looked the correct length, put it side by side, looks right....take it hope, and try to lace it through the hole in the hub..and the blade is too wide to fit through...can i sand it down or something? i know it probably sounds stupid, but wondering what i can do about this, bike shop only has those bladed spokes, no other bike shop has bladed spokes

Well, first off what type of wheel is this and can you just order up a spoke from the manufacturer? I would not sand down the spoke, you'll never get it even and spokes do have tolerances that should at least be pretty tight. I'd look around online to see if you can find an oem spoke. My .02

There are two styles of oval or bladed spokes. True blades where the blade width is more than the 2.3mm diameter of a 14g thread and require slotted spoke holes. And oval or narrower blades where the thin section of a double butted spoke is flattened to a blade or oval shape narrower than 2.3mm.
If your hub isn't set up for bladed spokes, I wouldn't try changing it for one spoke. Return it and get a spoke that matches the others in the wheel, not only in length but gauge and type as well.
