That's the south end of Eaton Reservoir near Morrisville. Lots of nice rural riding around here.

It was very likely an '82! The America had models from 75 to 83, and then a special edition in '87. It looks like they got the awesome 18-speed Cyclone drive train starting with the '78 model that's part of what makes this bike special. I really feel your loss. It's the kind of thing that makes me really bitter against drivers sometimes. I know accidents happen, but they just cause so much more damage when they do.

I'm too dumb to throw a saddle bag on her. I guess I could throw a frame pump and a tube in the bag I usually have with me and keep a saddle bag available for longer rides, but...

Especially for Dayton, no mountains in Dayton. Then again maybe he just moved there from some mountainous area.

And oldie but goodie shortly before a ride from the house. She'll become my B bike in a few weeks.

Two bottles, small one piece headlight on bars, bracketed tail light mounted on bottom of seatpost, small wedge saddle bag, Farsports 50MM carbon / alloy wheels.

There's nothing Gallic on this all-Japanese ride
I believe this bike was from an era where many Japanese part manufacturers were copying the look and function of their European competitors. The original saddle on this bike (that I would *love* to get my hands on) was a Fujita F17 brooks-a-like, and the seat post is pretty much a direct copy of campy seat posts of the era, for example. Suntour was putting out some revolutionary stuff, and the Cyclone RD still shifts smoothly and immediately; it's the best friction-shifted RD I've ever used. My guess would be that the crank looks like a Stronglite, but it's actually a Sugino Mighty Tour as mentioned earlier in the thread.

I tried the whole "put everything in your jersey pocket" thing...but I just didn't like the feel of it. I don't carry a ton, but I have some small stuff like a multi-tool and some quick patches along with a tube and a CO2/pump combo. Combine that with a wallet and a phone....it's just too much in the small of my back. And it doesn't leave much room if I need to take off a vest or warmers, etc... Sweet lookin' C-dale by the way!!!

I love this thread, because everyone gets blasted for saddle bags in the other thread, and everyone uses saddle bags in this thread.

I don't know... is this NOT "staged"? I just tossed it against some random tree while I was out riding. I can't help it if my baby is just naturally photogenic
