Anyone with Continental GP5000 tires on HED JET 6 wheels?

I posted a rant on another thread. What I'm looking for is someone with this combination that would give me measurements on height and width. I'm currently using GP4000 with 23's. I want to use the GP5000's and need dimensions on 25's and 28's. If you have either of these, can you share?

Oh, Clincher with tube only!

All I can offer is that the 5000’s don’t “balloon” nearly as much as the 4000’s. I have two wheel sets and the 4000’s I had (25) measured at 27 and almost 28 on those rims (DT Swiss and Velocity A23OC) sorry I didn’t measure height.

I put on 28-5000’s and they measure about 28.5 so not much blow up. I think the internal width of the rim makes a big difference. Also I lowered the pressure about 10-15psi since it’s a wider tire and that helps too.

Sorry I’m not much help. I see questions like this all the time on weightweenies forum and over at slowtwitch forum. Check out over there at those two.

Good luck!

Found these wheels listed as 21mm inside width. I think 25mm Conti 5000s would end up a full 28mm wide. Would not fit my Madone 5.0.

e Jet 6 Blacks are 21mm wide internally, which plumps up clinchers considerably. For instance, the 25mm Vittoria Corsas I primarily used on these wheels measure a full 29mm on the HEDs. Within reason, wider generally means lower rolling resistance.May 1, 2017

Well, I pulled the trigger and ordered some 25's which should be here this week. I'll post my findings. Hopefully I didn't make an $80 mistake.

My daughter has a Trek with 25's on a Bontrager wheel which I put on my Cervelo. Ton's of clearance. However, as you mentioned, the HED's are pretty wide wheels. We'll see.....

I have a buddy who has your exact setup and guesstimates them at 27-28. Hope that helps somehow.

Yup, they'll measure out to about 28mm. I ran 25mm GP5Ks on a previous set of 21c rims. Not sure on the height tho, never measured, but they weren't very tall like the 28's are. They measure similarly to the 23mm GP4Ks, so you *should* be ok.
