Hi!
My husband owns a Schwinn World Sport Serial Number 5166287. I think that the Model Number is: G0385. I looked up the serial number and it said the bike was manufactured between 8/19 - 08/21 1957? When I look up in the catalog I do not see the World Sport as manufactured in 1957. Does anyone know when this bike was manufactured and if so, what would be the approx. estimated valuation range. It is in good condition. My husband would have to look at it more carefully to see what is original and what is not original on the bike.
If anyone can tell me, or lead me to a website that would give us more information, I would greatly appreciate it.

P.S. I have a 1961 Women's or Girl's 3 Speed Rudge English Racer. It is in good condition. I know that the seat; pedals and tires are not the original to the bike. We took the fenders off, too and do not have them any longer. We are moving & we want to sell both bikes. I would love to get an estimate of the price range for the Schwinn and the Rudge.

The Schwinn was probably made in the 1980s or 90s. Check the head badge there probably will be a 4 digit number, the first 3 will be what day of the year the bike was made 031 would be January 31st the last number will be the last number of the year, you will need to find some Schwinn catalogs on line and compare the bike to determine the decade. Nether of these bikes will have much value.

I posted pictures yesterday. I was told that the bike was most like from the 80's. I was also advised to look on the Badge for the serial number. There are no number on the badge. I found the numbers when I turned the bike upside down and found the GO385 and 5166287 embossed on the metal space between the pedals. The bike does look like it is from the '80's. I am trying to sell it. I just want an estimate for the bike even if it is only $100 or $200.

The G0385 may indidate the bike was made by Giant in Taiwan (this is after Schwinn started contracting their frames out), in March of 1985. Where do you live? If your market is mostly rural, you might expect to get $50-75 for it. If you live in an urban market, you might get more like $100-150 for it.

That was made in Taiwan for Schwinn by the Giant bike company in March 1985 that is what the G0385 is for. I just bought a women's 1984 World Sport G0684 and I paid $10 for it on Facebook Marketplace

Definitely a contract build by Giant. Remarkable because this was the series of bicycles that signaled the beginning of the end for American made bikes. These old Schwinn World Sport bikes from Taiwan were 2x the quality of US built Schwinns at 1/2 the price. The rest is history.

Definitely Giant built in Taiwan. 1985 model. Had a gray example I bought as a 3 year old leftover brand new in Oak Ridge, TN. Was a very good bike, but basic.
