Lafayette to Indianapolis - facilitation help
Hello everyone,
wondering if anyone could facilitate a bike that’s in Lafayette and deliver to Indianapolis. Once in Indy I have friend who can take it to me in Detroit.
Thanks for any help you can lend, Steve

Not C&V, but Boise Green Bikes wants to donate one of their Social Bicycles 3.5's to the Bike Share Museum - so I'm looking for anyone in or driving through Boise, Idaho who'd be willing to assist.
I think I have about three weeks wiggle room on this one.
EDIT: MAJOR thank you to @Jeff Wills for putting me in touch with a friend. The two bikes are safe and sound at their new home!

ShipBikes = FedEx
In the last few months, shipping within the eastern US has been ~$40 for a bike box. This varies a bit and I've seen < $30 if it's going from a FedEx hub to another major FedEx city. Crossing the Mississippi or the Rockies seems to get it to $60-$70.

I have a friend who need help from someone in Houston, TX. He has a frame at a bike shop in Houston that isn't shipping stuff out right now. He is located in Charlotte, NC. I believe the frame will need to be packed but I'm waiting on confirmation on that.
Thanks

Traveling north from North FL to MA
Traveling north from North FL to MA in the near future (2-3 weeks). I may be able to assist someone on some east coast (I'm driving I-95 most of the way), but waiting to see if I'm having a copilot or not. If I'm solo I can help with smaller items or a bike that I can pull the wheels off of (I drive a Mini, but the biggest one) since I'll have a bike with me at the same time. Copilot situation wouldn't give me room for a bike (2 bikes already onboard) and I may not be able to divert from the normal travel plans. Anyways, you can PM me if you think you may have need of help. I should have my schedule set by next week. I enjoy a good local beer, that usually suffices for me as compensation. I won't be going through NYC though. Also, due to traveling out of FL, there may be some restrictions on what State I can drive around in without having to quarantine or provide negative virus test within 3 days; I'll have to q'tine when I reach MA regardless. I have previously provided this service before. You may contact 3speedslow as a reference. Additionally, I work in a hospital OR and practice medical safety precautions, and during this time I must insist that those I meet with do the same for my patient's sake, as well as yours and mine; simply put: wear a mask when near me, thanks!

Crazy idea perhaps, but maybe this thread could be done differently. Maybe a Google spreadsheet with a tab per state (or non-US country) with rows sorted by city, containing columns for facilitator names and dates added. People looking for purchase facilitation could check there first, only posting a request for help if they can't find someone who can help.
Searching for a potential facilitator would be quicker than pushing back through all 20-something pages of this thread. For the most part, new posts would only be added to look for help.

An even slicker approach, and easy to do, is a US map with pins located at each facilitator's location. Click on a pin and get the facilitators contact info, or it would send you directly to your PM page. There's publicly available software (Tableau Public) or Google My Maps that could be used. The issue again though is hands-on management & maintenance.

the_freewheeler are you still facilitating from our Atlanta area? I'm totally overloaded right now but cocoabeachcrab is interested in a frameset I have available and I'd love to see it find its new forever home. I'm often driving all over ITP/OTP and don't mind dropping it off to be packed and labeled by a trusted BF'er, but I definitely don't have the time or resources to pack for a couple weeks (despite historical rave reviews about my packing )
If worse comes to worst, I can always drop off at my LBS, but it's liable to double the ask price before shipping, so it's not ideal. Or if anyone else in the ATL area is keen to the task? roadscrape leicanthrope ramzilla embankmentlb Spoonrobot Force AngryFrankie mrmw are a few others I can think of (RIP Duane, I know you'd have handled this for me, bud)

I can get a free box from the LBS but I have zero foam noodle, enough tape to do one more set of bars, somewhere between 5-7 zip ties, and zero hours of free time every day between work and two kids schooling from home
