I'd say it's fake for sure. It looks a bit like the team colour scheme but when looking closer it doesn't look like it at all. As far as I know, Panasonic only built 2 bikes in this "team" livery: the PR6000 road bike and the Mc Pro mountainbike.

1992 Trek 970 MTB
Here is my 1992 Trek 970 MTB which I bought new in March 1992. It is one of my favourite rides amongst my bike collection. A few years back I found I was really only riding it on metalled surfaces so I changed the tyres from Mountain style to Road Smooth Tyres and recently I fitted Fenders and a Brooks Saddle & Saddlebag as well as Brooks Bar Grips and a rising Stem (to help my back). This bike has done many thousands of miles and it still has all original Wheels, Gears Changers, Cranks, Brakes etc. I strip all bearings regularly and clean and re-pack with grease so no parts have worn out, a credit to the high grade Shimano Deore DX and XT gear. needless to say it has gone through a few chains. I have acquired a complete set of NOS Brake Levers/rapid Fire Changers to fit if and when necessary as well as Chain Rings and Rear Cassette as most of these parts are and will become obsolete. I am now 72 years old and plan to keep riding this bike until I am too old and incapable.

Purchased this recently. The pics above are "as purchased". It's since been through a drop bar conversion and made into a touring bike(haven't taken pics yet..I'll post those on the MTB drop bar thread). The frame geometry/angles are the same as a Surly LHT, or Trek 750, or 520, though tubing is/maybe different.

Look at the crank on that bike and you can see that the arms are very thick. Compare that to a more modern (but still very old as in mid90s) crank arm I use for shaping spokes

Looking at Trek History your bike seems to be a 1989 or possibly 1993 (Bright Red with Black Decals), 970 was a high end model with Shimano Deore DX & XT equipment, I have a 92 Model 970 and they make great Road Bikes.

Just got back from a week-long self-supported tour with it, carried 35-37 pounds of gear...wonderful touring bike. It has a brooks imperial saddle on it now and has been through a drop bar conversion. Big Ben tires..two big thumbs up, Great Tires! Super easy rolling and a cushy ride.

Picked this thing up a few days ago, looked quite sad, chain rings and RD full of crud, BB had ripped itself apart, mis matched wheels.....
But after a strip down, deep clean, some cutting compound and wax, plus one or two replacement parts, it looks like a presentable ride ready for another 32 years!
Probably for flipping.
As it is

Can't remember if I ever posted it in this thread, but here's my very crusty 1983 Diamond Back Ridge Runner. Hopefully I'll eventually get around to cleaning it up as it's loaded with cool parts like cartridge bearing high flange hubs!

True, a Panasonic is a strange choice but it was the use of the (odd) Tom Ritchey ("TR") decal on a Panasonic that made me doubt about the genuiness of this "Panasonic". ;-)

searching "Panasonic Ritchey" brings up similar looking frames with the TR decal attached to the Panasonic paint job, oddly enough. Now i'm curious as to why Panasonic used the TR decal, all the results I've seen are from Indian auction sites, it looks like, which definitely suggests an Asian market model... some weird import deal?
in any case this was absolutely not a bike intended for the US market, which is always cool to find.

WV is not flat..
Picked up this 1988 Schwinn Impact today. More of a hybrid than a mountain bike, but such a fun rider. Just a quick clean up brought out that great black chrome paint. Even still has the Schwinn dork disc and Schwinn Slickrock tires with very little wear on them.

Pre-winter stripping and repaint. But got new tires and new to me Brooks saddle that fits like a glove. Thanks to previous owner for the break in. What color do i paint this beauty? Purple to dark fade with yellow decal? Purple with lime green decals? Green with white decals?

Thinking about picking this one up today for the frame, and tossing the cheap components. It's almost free. Made in USA on the sticker. Chrom-Moly steel. Hoop bridge for the rear canti brake. Chain holder on the seat stay. Maybe an early 90's re-branded Trek 900 series frame? Even the fork looks Trek "Big Fork-ish".

Black chrome is so cool when done well. I always liked this Schwinn decal set, I think the last variant of the Cimarron used it as well.
