Mavic Cosmic Carbone SL Wheelset upgrade for 2011 Trek 1.5
Hey, people
I'm finally planning to update the wheelset on my 2011 Trek 1.5 Road Bike. I am still using the rear Bontrager SSR wheel from my old Trek 1200d and a Bontrager Select front wheel (2009), which replaced a bent SSR rim after a crash.
I find that my current wheelset is far too heavy for my taste, weighing in over 2kg (sans tubes, tires and skewers). I'm considering upgrading to a pair of Mavic Cosmic Carbone SL (1740g).
I'm looking for good multi-purpose wheelset with strong rims (the roads in my city aren't kind to road bikes), which is why I chose the aluminium rimmed Cosmic Carbone SL. Would this be a good upgrade, or should I go for something different?
Regards

Uuummm.......don't the wheels cost more than the whole bike without them?

@ThinLine: Well, personally, I prefer the stiffness and handling of Aluminium frames over that of Carbon frames. I had considered upgrading my groupset to Ultegra, but decided that the wheelset was the best option. I plan to continue upgrading my bike part by part, and the wheels will last quite a while, so...
@kenji666: those were actually my first choice. However, the price difference is not that major, and I would appreciate the aerodynamics of a deeper pair of rims.
Nevertheless, would you recommend the new Mavic Ksyrium Elite S over the older non-S variant?
