Tonight, I'm drinking Scotch and watching The Goonies for the first time after wandering around the new neighborhood. Good times. I don't really get the appeal of The Goonies thus far.

Also, today I realized that a road I used to ride 3-4 times a week, and was a complete mess the entire time, is now freshly paved, yet I rarely have reason to ride it these days. Super lame.

Today I woke up and went for a bike ride down some country roads. Ate some good food, spent the afternoon getting sunburnt on a boat, and then grilled some kabobs and burgers. Good day.

Today on my morning bicycle bagel run I saw a guy riding no hands while holding a college size football and waving to everyone he would see and then fake like they should "go long" so he could throw it to them. He had a cowbell tied to his saddle and at every intersection he would reach back with his one free hand and "fondle" the bell to make a little noise. He was weaving all over the place and was even riding on "under construction" roads. No hands the entire time. He might have been dancing too I couldn't really tell. 8am on a Sunday in Chicago. Never a dull moment.

Today I tried and completed my first "quicksilver" dismount. Heh. Just thought of it at the last second as I was stopping and decided to go for it.

Today I also stumbled upon a very trashy FG bike site. thefixfixfix dot com. It's weird. Softcore dirty bike girl porn, kinda sorta. I don't wanna link to it because there are some shots that show nipple here and there but yeah, not exactly sexy or anything, just strange and kinda sad. It's just (mostly) trashy women posing with FG bikes.

Today I also had an idea for a thread. A "caption of the day" thread. Someone like Carleton or Scrod or whomever would choose an image to post for the day. The rest of us have to come up with the funniest caption. Just thinkin' out loud, might be fun. Doesn't nec have to be bicycle related images.

I just went to thefixfixfix for the first time in ages. To my surprise, the first chick on the page is the first person I lived with when I moved to Chicago. At the time she didn't have pierced nips, and she didn't call herself Phoenix, but that's definitely her.

got the 722ts out for my early Sunday cruise/church run. man i love that thing.

i commute on a singlespeed'ed Ridley CX. i think this winter's project will be a fixed CX setup. just have to sell off the non-transferable bits from my old commuter (the 105 drivetrain Nashbar steel CX) to make room/justify it.

n+1 is a harsh mistress.....

Today I was scolded by a very unfriendly group of 50-something year old roadies (after passing all six of them on an incline) about how I am "everything that's wrong with cycling today".

Really? Everything?

Today I spent several hours this morning mowing, weeding, bathing the dog, and doing various other backyard related activities. Meanwhile my husband researched how to fix our broken dryer. Sigh. Sometimes being a homeowner isn't all it's cracked up to be.

I need a beer. Preferably, a sour one.

Should've called. I used to repair appliances for Maytag and have Petrus and Cantillion in my fridge.

Most of the roadies around here are the same way. I don't wear a jersey and have gears or brakes, so I must me some sort of Satan incarnate.

next time, ask them if they want to race

Today, I dialed in my caad9 to more of a race fit since I've only been going on short rides with it, it feels real good now. I need to get out of the habit of pointing my toes though.

Well, not really. The beach parking area is right on the road we were all riding on and a pretty common stop because there are water fountains and rest rooms there. It would have been impossible for them to not see the dreadlocked monster on a pink bike.

They just hate you, cuz they ain't you.
Maybe you passing them by symbolized (and confirmed) their current life situation, which made it really sting, lol.

Today I saw the latest Batman installment. Too long and not great. That's my review. It can wait for blu-ray, imho.
Also very distracted thinking about the victims in Colorado, and constantly watching the exits/entrances for suspicious activity. Not joking. It wasn't a very pleasant experience.

I recommend watching it in a place where you're not afraid of being shot, but I guess that bridge is already crossed.
