Worst smoke in Reno in my recollection
This is what i am putting up with in Reno. how about you in CA. This picture does not do justice to what i *do not* see out my front window. normally i can see Mt Rose, not today. nothing, not even a slight outline. just completely gone. It is like someone took the mountain away. Just incredible.
i was able to ride in the garage though. so glad i have a trainer.

i can only imagine what it is like there.
this was us yesterday...
i only ride outside if i can see the ski slopes on Mt Slide. again, there was nothing to be seen. This year tops 2012 when my daughter was diagnosed with asthma. This is taking a toll on her again, poor kid.

You damn yankees. So jealous Australia had the biggest fires in the world you had to go and try and outdo us by gender revealing yourselves into the record books. Still got a while to go, you're aiming for 46 million acres.

The western states need to buy up a FLEET of 747s that are out of service and make them into water tanker. Fly 10 or 15 over the fires when first discovered. Just the single plane or copter dropping a little water is kind of pathetic.

The unprecedented death and destruction that wildfires have brought to California the last two years have demonstrated the sharp limitations aircraft have when battling extreme fire behavior.
“There’s ‘why weren’t air tankers flying? Why don’t you have 747s?’ Like the aircraft are some kind of panacea,” said Dennis Brown, aviation chief with the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection. “Sometimes they’re not necessary and sometimes they’re not practical. It’s a risk versus gain.”
Officials say the department’s aerial fleet can use re tardant to slow the movement of a flame front, or use water drops to douse spot fires and clear escape routes. However, they say firefighting aircraft are no match for the types of wind-driven fire storms that have killed more than 130 people and taken out 20,000 homes since October 2017.

Fresno has not been as bad as some places, and today is the best day in about a week. The sun is not just a red ball in the sky today. I took some time off and we were planning on going camping, whoops, not in California in a National forest, so changed plans and thought about going to Tahoe, motel it but looking at some live cams it too has lots of smoke. We'll just stay home for a few days, take some time, and work on my old Centurian. New brake cables and some clean up getting her ready to paint.

It’s been pretty miserable here in the SF Bay Area for almost a month. My bike riding has definitely taken a hit because of it 😔
