Are 105 R7000 parts backward compatible with 105 5800?
I have a 2018 Cannondale Synapse Disc 105 SE with 6,700 miles. It has a mostly Shimano 105 group set. The disc brakes are TRP non hydraulic (the brifters are 105), and the BB is FSA. The rest of it is 105 and the cassette, both derailleurs, and brifters on it are the 5800 11 speed series.
As the original 105 5800 parts wear out, I am wondering if I can (one by one, not a simultaneous full set swap) hang the new R7000 series 105 parts on it?
Are there any 5800 to R7000 components known to be incompatible?
I’m just about due for a new cassette, so right now that is the part that I am most interested in knowing if the R7000 part would be a drop in replacement on my bike.
