I took the Ritchey out for a quick 21 miles this morning, and had one of those days when you feel like you could go all day. Unfortunately, I had to get home and look professional (or at least the Scientist equivalent) by 10 for a Zoom meeting. New stem/bar are working out well - felt comfortable on the hoods and in the drops, and I'm learning to ignore being able to see my front hub.
I don't know why, but the legs wanted to spin between 97 and 102, so that's what I did. I think it's the 7410 crankset - really low Q-factor, and the legs seem to like that. It was one of those rides where you find yourself so in love with the bike you're on that you wonder why you ever thought you needed any other bikes. Of course, then you ride one of them and "Oh, yeah! THAT'S why I have this one!"

This whole getting caught in the rain and being saturated thing is getting old. Before leaving, the forecast was cloudy but 0% chance of rain. It started raining about 30 minutes in to my ride and hadn't stopped by the time I got home, three hours or so later. Eesh.

Credit my wife. She thought dog food should contain an indigestible fluorescent dye, so you could find dog poop in the yard more easily.

With all of the MUP talk this morning, it was fitting that, at the outset of my ride, I (carefully) overtook a very attractive young lady rollerskating on the bike path. Well, roller-dancing is probably more apt - she was gyrating this way and that, limbs all over the place, making it difficult to pass. After the second time that I called out, she pulled an earbud out, flashed a gigawatt smile and said, "sorry! I was groovin'!" I assured her that it wasn't a problem, to which she replied, "well at least you got a free show out of it!" Indeed.
This video will make a fine addition to the MUP talks, I thought. It was 20 minutes later when I realized that I hadn't yet turned on my camera. Probably for the better.

There’s a difference between a stomach cramp and a side stitch. Both are easier to get when less trained for running, but you can get a stitch without eating.

Dunno.
I didn't have to ride through any deep puddles/gutter streams; the rear wheel does sound a little more sloshy than it should, but not as bad as Sunday. Front seems to be normal-ish. I used all of my remaining sealant the other day, so I think that I'll just wait it out for now. I suppose that I could try to salvage the sealant, I think that the water is pretty well isolated in the inner chamber of the rim, but I'm just not up for it right now.

I will soon be at the lowest number of bikes since ~1982. I will be down to my Giant propel, my wife's Amira, our tandem, and our trikes. Tomorrow, I put the tandem up for sale which would make us tandem-less since the early 80s. No matter how hard she works at it, her back won't allow her to ride it anymore comfortably.
My wife and I are reducing the number of machines in the house for various reasons. If I get our tandem sold, I may even sell my Propel and go wild on a new upright. That would be cool.

Velo Vol Here’s the latest pumpkin report: We are just a couple weeks away from harvesting. I drove by the plant in Morton yesterday and it’s gearing up, lots of activity. This pumpkin is about 10” long and the field that it is in won’t be harvested for quite awhile yet so it’s got a lot of time to grow and mature.

it’s a sign. Hang up your helmet and shoes for the rest of the week. I won’t mind.
