Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

can’t post pics yet since I’m new. Clearance is fine, no issues at all

Got some 28c Conti GP5000s to replace the stock Bontrager 25c tires that came on the bike. Dropped 10psi, incredible difference in smoothness and speeds all up slightly.

Looking at a new Wahoo Kickr now....

I think it's 10 posts until you can start a new thread. Not sure about pictures...

I got myself a new cockpit look - Profile Design clip-on bars and Wahoo Elemnt Bolt.

Quick test ride already done, love it, can't wait for the long Sunday ride to test both.

The Swat mini tool was a waste of money. Fell out of its holster on one of my last two rides. It seemed very secure but obviously wasn’t. Lesson learned.

Put a set of Panaracer Gravel King SK tubeless tires on a new set of Shimano GRX WH-RX570 wheels. My second set of tubeless tires.

I’m pleased with tubeless tires. Although there is a real learning curve when it comes to mounting them.

My first attempt mounting the Gravel Kings was a complete failure. The tires went on the wheels fairly easily, without resorting to tire irons. Hands only. Getting the bead to seat and the tires to hold air was a whole different experience.I first tried my trusty Silca floor pump, not enough volume. I tried soapy water, no go. I got out my compressor and cranked it up to 120 psi. Nothing but wind blowing through the bead. I even tried putting sealant in the tires along with the compressor. Big mess.

Finally consulted the inter-web and found a suggestion to mount the tires with a tube in them and let them sit overnight. Then remove the tube carefully, only breaking the bead on one side of tire. Put the stem back and muscle the open side of the tires back on the rim. At that point I was able use my floor pump to seat the bead. Really amazing how well the suggestion worked. Thought I would share.

Just ordered a Garmin 530 today. Been using my Fenix 5X, but since I can’t run anymore, it was time for a proper bike computer.

Picked up a new red Domane SL 5 for my 59th birthday last Saturday. Going today to find the little tool-set thingy that fits into the downtube storage cover. My first carbon frame bike... LOVING IT.

I picked up some Muc-Off Dry Lube to try out and some Stan's Rim Tape to replace the existing in the rear wheel of the Orbea. I ran over a nail last week that poked into a spoke hole.

I"m finding it impossible to make a cycling related purchase. Nobody has any stock. You can't find a bike for under $3K anywhere.

anyways, i went to 3 different shops this weekend and was finally able to find a pair of gloves as i've been riding without them this year.

Just got a pair of Pearl Izumi riding gloves. I'll use them on my ride and probably not report back (they're gloves, they're fine lol)

A pair of Craft Surge Lumen bib shorts with their very fine C1 Infinity pad. It's my second pair but I had great trouble to find them in my size compared to about 8 months ago. Looks like they are phasing out their bike wear almost. I certainly hope that's not the case because their bibs for me so well. On the other hand, Craft does not seem to be very popular as a cycling wear brand, so I'm starting to worry :/

Finally ordered my first 2 pairs of padded shorts and a pair of padded gloves. Plus ordered the Rene Herse 700x32 tires - excited for it all to come in! Now I just need to go to clipless pedals...

Ten-year-old Zipp 404 tubular wheels. I now delineate my biking life into two segments: pre-Zipp and post-Zipp.

2020 Roubaix Expert in red, replaced the tires with tubeless 700x28 Schwalbe Pro Ones, and got an extra set of C38 wheels setup with Gravel King 32s for some of the fire roads in the state forests or here. With the road tires this thing is dramatically faster than my old 2011 CAAD10!
