Research for possible new camera safety product

Hello!

I am currently doing research into the details of an AI-driven dash cam product made specifically for bicyclists to serve as an advocacy and safety tool. My team is working out of a company called Peregrine Technologies that is based in Berlin, Germany. Peregrine is currently in the late stages of development for a dash cam product that works to improve traffic safety and efficiency for vehicles (you can find our work at peregrine.ai ).

We believe that a modification of Peregrine's current product could be beneficial for the cycling community (specifically in Germany/Europe right now, more expansive in the future) in improving road safety and your general experience cycling in your cities. Since the current market for cameras for cyclists seems to be fairly small, we would like to develop something beyond the limited and manual functionality of current devices using the traffic-analyzing AI we have already developed for vehicle dash cams.

We are hoping to interview a few people to see how a potential product could improve your experience as a cyclist in European cities. The interview would be about 15-20 minutes. In addition, you would be one of the first to hear about a product if it does become available in the future, and would have the opportunity to work with us more to shape the product experience!

If you have any time in the upcoming days to have a short phone call with us, it would be much appreciated, and will hopefully lead to a product that could be an asset to the community as a whole. The phone call can be anonymous through Google Meet if that is preferred as well. Thanks for reading!

I have experience commuting by bike in Europe (Hamburg, Germany), but that was 15 years ago.

If you don't mind, may I ask how your potential product is different from the existing camera systems for bicycles (with Cycliq probably being the most popular)?

What about your system would actually potentially improve safety, as opposed to simply providing for evidence after the fact (which, IMO, is all one can really expect from a camera system)?

No problem! Anything from any time period helps, as a lot of the issues we are targeting are cloudy to us right now as we begin our research.

What we're looking at right now is hopefully something that builds off of the AI that we have already developed for traffic analysis. We're just starting our research into what is out there currently and what needs aren't being met, so I can't answer definitively how it would be different from Cycliq because we aren't sure yet what exact features and problems we want to target. We did have the chance to speak with a cyclist who said that she experienced some flaws in customer service and otherwise in her usage of Cycliq, so we would possibly be targeting some of those specifics.

In regards to safety, we are hoping to provide support both before and after an event in different ways. I would be happy to share more with you during an interview if you are interested, if I posted here it would be a lot of paragraphs of different random ideas that have been popping up through our research.

I don't mind chatting on the phone about my experience (albeit I don't really know how out of date it is).

For what it's worth, the system I'm planning on installing in my velomobile is this one, although I'm looking for a US distributor: Bike Bro ? Dual Camera Motorcycle DVR |

Also, if you haven't, it might be worth asking this question on some other forums. We have a LOT of euro-cyclists on bentrider.com, since velos, trikes, and recumbents tend to be more popular there, and lots of us run camera systems.

That would be great, thank you! Would you be able to DM me a number I can reach you at (either through WhatsApp or regular text messages)?

I did also post on ****** and BikeRadar, but I know that ****** isn't as popular in Europe. I will look into bentrider.com and try to find some other euro-centric ones, thanks!
