Also, pro-tip, if you shut off your radar to save battery while on a long stop, then turn it back on, the Garmin won’t find it without a power cycle as well. At lease, my 520 wouldn’t. Can confirm, you suddenly feel naked without it.

There's going to be a lot of initial resistance, but it will decrease, especially among vulnerable populations, which is where we really want the protection. Even I might wait a month or two for some post-market surveillance if the complication rate seems high or there are rumors that the Phase III trials were rushed. I also hope there isn't too much political pressure on the FDA to approve something before the election.

I hope you’re right. However, with the societal resistance to vaccines and many reputable sources saying that this is proving to be a difficult one, I’m not optimistic. My previous comment doesn’t help, because it’s been shown from the start of this that the reality turns out worse than the worst forecast. And you weren’t around in the years ago when I was worse, but I have a hard time with optimism. Shall we say.
Mostly, I've been listening to the less optimistic projections, and we're doing better than those. The thing the worst projections didn't include is the population freaking out when people start getting sick and actually behaving responsibly. You see this in how the hot spot states all have arced over and are on the decrease in new cases right now - people started behaving responsibly.
But, yeah, the whole thing about herd immunity is that you need enough people who aren't susceptible to prevent the spread, because those who can't take the vaccine or are unable to mount a protective response depend on the rest of us to keep them safe. This is why I'm totally unsympathetic to anti-vaxxers, and have no problem making it mandatory.

With you on that last bit. Nothing drives me more batty than this craziness that "unbiased journalism" means uncritical presentation of science and anti-vax together as two equally-valid competing viewpoints.

So they pulled it with a rope tied to the truck? Lot of tricks to tree work. Last house I lived in a huge section of a pine tree fell on the house and poked holes in the roof. I cut it up as much as I could with a bow saw and the landlord got a service to come out weeks later. There was a piece which they estimated @500 pounds still on the roof and they trussed it up with ropes and lowered it to the ground without any pulleys, just tied to the tree and hoisted it up and swung it over and down.
I also watched one of them scramble up a tree with a small chainsaw hanging from his belt on a rope. I could never climb like he did.
