Vintage shoes: Quoc Pham fixed or Vittoria 1976 SPD?

Hey guys,

Need some vintage-inspired shoes. Which of these would you go with? Any personal experience? Thanks in advance...

I have a pair of Quoc Pham Tourers for SPD pedals. I did not like them at first - too narrow across the ball of the foot and too loose in the heel. I bought them specifically because they were leather and would get more comfortable over time, and indeed they have continued to break in and are much more comfortable after a year and a half. The Vittorias are faux leather and may not get much more comfortable with age.

BTW, I purchased my QPs from mission workshop in SF.

I also have some Quoc's and I like them. I have done 3 L'Eroicas in them and they still look good. They tend to fit a little narrow so if you have a wide foot it might be a problem.

I have the Vittorias and I've been very happy with them.

I'm about to pull the rigger on a pair of these.

Rec'd the Vittorias for Christmas and been happy. I wanted a white shoe so that pretty much limited me to the Vittorias. But frankly, I'd still prefer faux rather than real leather for those days when the unexpected (or expected) thunderstorm relents.

They need cool vintage spd shoes for folks with wide feet. If I hacked off my pinky toe Giros might fit decently. The Republics are really cool and there's another lace up shoe they offer that looks pretty nice with a Vibram sole.

OK, I got the Quoc Pham Fixed shoe in black after trying on the 1976's and the Fixed. I have super-narrow feet and the Vittorias weren't even narrow enough for me. Plus, the Lorica felt a bit stiff and I couldn't get the sizing right. As soon as I tried the QP's, I knew they would work. The leather is very supple and the sole is actually very stiff yet ok to walk in. I also got them from Mission Workshop. They look VERY well-made and actually look better built than the Vittorias, which are made in Italy (the QP's are made in Taiwan). I wear a US size 9.5 and 43.5 in Sidi shoes, but the 43 in QP's fit me perfectly. Plus, leather is more C&V than Lorica!

I've been pretty happy with the Vittorias. Looks like you can't go wrong either way.

Update: The Quoc Phams feel great right out of the box. The leather is super nice and I've used Kiwi neutral polish to add some protection (which was recommended by the manufacturer). Very happy I went with these. If you have narrow feet, these are the shoes for you.
