Waxing up an old mtb

Hi all,
I just picked up a mint condition 1986 Stumpjumper. Is there a particular wax recommended for bicycles? Thanks!

Any car wax will do well. Use a rubbing polishing compound first, then wax. They are generally all good.

I was using turtle polish and wax but it varies to whatever I have on hand.

On old Mercedes single stage paint, I always start with either Mothers cleaner wax or Maguires cleaner wax, a single step wax that also does mild polishing. Works well on bicycles also. Don

Good grief, did the OP not see Karate Kid? It's wax on wax off, not wax up. Good grief!-)

As for wax, for many years now I have preferred Mother's Cleaning wax. That is for cleaning up my vintage finds and I do manage to find a few bikes, now and again. Anyway, Mother's works for me.

Normally wash the frame with car wash soap. Dry.

then use megs. Cleaner, polish , wax.

And then Honda spray polish for maintenance. I’m. Not sure they still make the spray polish anymore.

Post up some pics of the bike.

Polish first then wax. It's like night and day for old bikes.
