I'm subscribed to many, but my favorite groups are:

PB does suck. Flickr is great for things like our hobby. I would definitely recommend checking out some of those groups I linked to. You could get lost in the photos for hours.

I don't follow too many groups, mostly people (many you should recognize as BF C&Vers). If you're looking specifically for potential groups to follow, check the groups some of these people subscribe to. Be careful. You may never get out of the maze alive!

I use Flickr to host pics, but find that Instagram is more useful for following various bike-related folks. Lots post in both platforms, including Brian Chapman.

Interesting. I actually fell so hard for Flickr because I felt this is one of the things instagram doesn’t do as well, especially routing thousands of photos to very niche groups. IG has tags like Flickr but I’ve found that when searching most of the bicycle terms, builders, models, styles etc. I like to read about and look at Instagram usually comes up short compared to Flickr results.

I prefer Flickr over Instagram. Instagram is more of a social media platform, Flickr is mostly about the photos (much higher resolutions can be published). If you like bike rides with 10,000 of your best friends, Instagram might be for you. If the biggest ride you do is CINO (maybe 150 riders, most of which will be a BFF after you're done), I'd recommend Flickr.

I'd post some of my own favorite Flickrs, but I'd feel funny about publishing somebody's who has a lot of personal stuff there, as most do, without getting their permission -- and I'd even feel funny asking. They're not hard to find, though, I can tell you that. If you see someone's "work" here that you like, and they really seem devoted to it, then chances are pretty good that they have a Flickr trove, and that it's worth looking at.

If someone's Flickr is public, I don't see any issues sharing the link. The stuff I have on mine that I've decided is private, I set as private.

So a public/private dichotomy has limited mileage IMO.
