I have a Viner that uses a 20" Vittoria tubular. According to Vittoria, they measure 21mm in width (same as their 22, 24, and 26 inch tubular tires):

I'd like to get 20" clincher wheels for this bike, and most modern rim manufacturers offer them in ISO 406 or 451 only. Is there any way to determine if an ISO 406 wheelset will be compatible?

Gitane 1982 Gazelle TS 2300 Junior Road Bike
Gitane made very small junior road bikes that had downsized lugged steel frames like adult bikes. I saw a bike like this at a bike show in the 90's then came across this one at an auction. I won the bid and restored the bike. I might be interested in selling the bike as it's a wall hanger for me. Contact me at kdresch@aol.com
The hardest part was sourcing the 450A tires. I searched and searched and finally found them in the United Kingdom. I wanted the 390-28 narrow tires, the wider versions are more common.
The bike has all the original parts and is a single speed. Not many were preserved as I'm sure most kids abused them and they were probably disposed of. Enjoy the images, including the '82 British catalog scans that feature the bike. This is the only documentation I have found on the bike so far...

Any interest in a pair of 451 x 13 mm rims? I got a pair, and some 20 x 1 1/8" tires with plans to build a nicer set of wheels for my daughter's mini Gitane. She grew out of it faster than I could get around to it. PM me if you're interested.

Just picked this up tonight. It's going to be my daughters Christmas present. I don't think it will fit her yet, that gives me time to replace some of those steel parts, this weighs a ton.

Nice! Replacing the cottered crankset and steel wheels on my daughter's '81 Fuji shaved a LOT of weight off that bike, so based on my experience, sounds like a great plan! Replacement wheelsets may be difficult to find depending on the original wheel size and frame/fork clearance, though.

Here's a fun bike from today's Craigslist. 45cm, 24" wheel Coppi, with a half-step-plus-granny crankset and a deer head RD. This looks like it has about the same standover as the smallest Terry bikes.

Super cool little vintage Fausto Coppi "junior racer" road racing bicycle. Tiny little 24" wheels, it's the smallest Italian-made Fausto Coppi I've ever seen. Very few of these were imported to the states and very few remain. The frame size is 45-cm center to center, and the standover height is 26.5". Has a 6-speed rear drive train with triple TA cranks, with down tube shifters. The TA Specialites triple cranks are size 165, which are incredibly rare. Campagnolo pump and pump holder. Modolo brakes, Suntour shifters. Has the original 24" Nisi tubular tires/rims which still hold air and spin nicely. Original Avocet saddle. The bike shifts through all the gears just fine, and the brakes work fine. Nicely lugged double butted frame, no rust. I've never seen another one of these, it really needs to be hung up in a bike shop for display, it's that cool! $375 firm, thanks.

I've asked this before... has anyone ever actually seen a Soma Bart or Lisa? It seems like the only photos I can find online are Soma's own studio or blog photos. The prices now listed for the Bart frame are clearance level and the build kit and the Lisa seems to be gone. I sort of wanted one or some of these for my kids (if it turns out any of them want a road bike) but it seems likely they'll have disappeared from the market before the kids are big enough. I guess if you want one, now is the last chance

Not a mini velo.
A mini velo typically has a 480 mm frame = 48 cm with 451 or 406 wheels.
They're true adult bikes while junior road bikes are kids' bikes.

Of course we're not getting all fancy C&V here with such categorizing Greg Lemond's - 'Junior' National and World Championship titles, on required spec gearing where he could still beat 'ADULT' racers or is it safe for a three year old to ride a 12 inch two wheeler with drop bars. cheers

@NormanF is right -- mini velos are something else entirely. That's not to say they aren't cool, either - they are - but a mini velo isn't a children's road bike, and vice versa.

Just wanted to add this in here. I haven't yet figured out what it is though. Anyone have any ideas?
