My wife and I are stuck in Winnipeg for another month, or so. I have no bike to ride and no pedals for it, even if I did. So...

If anyone in Winnipeg has a bike to sell or knows where one is, would you let me know and list it in the For Sale forum. I do not have a lot of cash, but I do have some. Anyway, any help here would be much appreciated.

Size does matter and I ride, with equal comfort, a 54 or 56 cm measured center to center.

If this breaks BF rules, I do apologize but I really want to find a ride while staying in the Peg. Thanks.

Thanks for the offer but my intention is to buy a bike, an old one and the older the better. Being stuck here for an undetermined amount of time, I need something to do with my empty calendar. Why not find and build up a bike that will remain in Winnipeg for my annual visits?

So, I will pass on your generous offer and hope that something pops up. I guess that I should advertise in the For Sale forum. Will do so now.

Thanks squirtdad (a name I have wondered about) and, yes, I did see those. I do thank you for the effort of sharing. At the moment, I am waiting for a call, this evening, from another Kijiji add. The fellow has a bunch of vintage bikes for sale and invites questions pertaining to potential buyer interests. I did mention an old road bicycle and he asked for my number to call. Fingers crossed and who knows, I might get one more shot at N+1.

Well, at least I have a project. My son-in-law, a really nice guy and good dad, suggested that I tune up the four bikes here. Why not and tomorrow will be a better day. Pictures to follow but nothing special will pop up. By the way, I gave them the bikes years ago and they still get used every year. Now that I think of it, the bikes were the second set of four given. The first group were stolen right out of the garage. Unusual for around here.

That said, there is nothing there for me and I am still hoping to find something. If not, you can bet your life that I will bring a bike to the Peg next autumn, on my way back to Jamaica (assuming that it seems safe to do so).

Randy, you're most welcome, and I fully understand and endorse your goals. I'm sure you'll turn up something to your liking pretty soon. Considering that you're in Manitoba, along with your discerning taste, it would be most fitting if you end up with one of the higher end Sekines.

I’ve read before on your blog that you’ve stopped buying bikes and that bikes just find you. As a fan of your blog I’ll be very disappointed if you’re losing your powers. I’m sure something will pop up soon for you. Sorry, I don’t have a way of helping but I’ll be following the story. Good luck!

Were I at my summer home, in Thunder Bay, Ontario, I would have no problem finding a bike. But I am not at home and I cannot even leave my place of government requested and now self imposed 14 days quarantine. i do not even have access to my car until Saturday, when my quarantine time is complete.

Will I find a bike? Pretty sure that I will but first I have to get out and look. I do have a plan and would like to go to the Bike Dump but I am pretty sure it will be closed. Also, I am familiar with one dump in the area and know that they set bikes aside. The problem is getting permission from the landfill attendant to take one, Will give that a shot on Saturday, if the dump is open. Pics if I score...

Well, though not exactly what I was hoping for, at least I have something to do, that is bicycle related. And, I even have something to ride, but I will need to find a set of SPD pedals. I might add that I gave these bikes to the kids and grand kids years ago.

I am just about finished refurbishing this cruiser...

And, next on the clean and tune list is this ORYX, a nice enough Canadian bike that is pretty nice to ride. I am wondering, however if there might be a front suspension issue..?




Not sure about the Mongoose.. The grand daughter that the bike belongs to shot up over the winter...


And. I am kinda looking forward to going through the old Raleigh Sprite. The bike is in nice cosmetic shape. Might become garden art...

So, a choice or two have surfaced. Yup, still in Winnipeg and I am not, necessarily, looking for anything special, but I would not turn something different down. Anyway, choice one involves too many trips away from my isolation efforts.

Hi Randy, you mean you found all those bikes in two weeks of being here???

You can forget the dump as a source (i.e. 4R depots). Those are under armed guard and saved for "The Wrench".
