At the line - there was suffering but no pain. Apparently the guy behind me felt that one of the guys off of my right shoulder had boxed him in. He promptly threw a bird after the line then slammed into a barracade. My wife shot ~10 photos as we came to the finish. I think the guy just had a hot head because I didn't see anything out of the ordinary.
Edit to add - First place gave us the slip a handful of laps before the finish. We were racing for 2nd.
hmmm. trying to get the pic to work...

MW: Congrats on (another) podium! I'm impressed that you went from doing IM's with a 4 hour bike and no sprint to be heard of, to killing it in crits everywhere. It looks like hothead has nobody to blame but himself... I'd be interested to see the crash sequence. I'm also pretty sure that taking your hands off the bars is illegal. Often overlooked for victory salutes, but not if it causes a crash...
I'd say that I'm looking forward to seeing you in the P12 field, but we'd be on opposite ends of the crit, and im not sure how much i'd see...

Thanks Brian. There are a ton of good riders out there. I'm not taking my luck for granted.

Hi Nate, I am all ears. Feel free to PM if you prefer but I don't mind either way. I know my forearms are very wide and I'm going to move those in a bit. This started as a function of comfort level (death grip = twitchy steering) and also I would go out so hard and get so much lactic acid that I couldn't steer . Have learned how to pace myself a little better and also relax my grip.
I couldn't find my shoe covers
I had a slammed 37 degree drop stem and 0 spacers but something just did not feel right so I moved it up to a mostly flat stem and a couple of spacers (from one extreme to the other). I might be able to go somewhere in between without being entirely uncomfortable. No power meter on the track bike so when it comes to fit/position vs power I am kind of going by feel.
So basically from here I'll probably try to move myself in a bit, and perhaps down a bit. I can go a bit longer on the stem legally but my saddle was right about on the 5cm set back line, if just a hair further back.

Just in from the Beverly Crit in MA. I was tailgunning the whole time but was happy to have finished in a race with some pretty big guns. 27.3mph avg speed, too!

Last race of the five day event. City Park Circuit Race in Salisbury.
Buried myself to catch the break up the road with 6 laps left. My team was cheering me on big time to hold off the field.
But I was doing it for "Shirtless" in the last photo.
Placed in two of the five races. Managed to get good points in all events. Placed 8th overall - 60 or so entrants. Got some good payout for the beach.

I don't see much suffering....but congrats on a great weekend of racing. Hopefully, you bought "shirtless" some clothes with your winnings.
