This is what happens when you have good friends up the road:
They let up on the last lap and let me catch a draft but I had nothing left on the final climb to the finish.

OTF in the Dallas (Irving) Wednesday crit in the 107F heat. I'm in the red/white, the kid in the blue/black is 13 years old and he was riding quite strong. We got caught with 4 to go... bummer, we both put in a lot of work but at least we each got a prime for our trouble.

From the Ronde Ohop a few days ago: suffering from a flat.. somehow still got 6th.
This was the little climb on the dirt section of the race - if you look closely you can see the baseball to softball size rocks all over it.. good times!

Do I have a gap?
Why yes I do, time to suffer.
From the race report thread: I attacked to try go get a head start on the hill. At one point I had just over 2 mintues. I still got passed, but ended up in a better group than had I just stayed put and gotten dropped on the climb... plus now I have pretty pictures OTF of a p12 field...

Thanks.
I have power on my road and TT bikes but not track. Most of my workouts are motor paced or timed. Power would be a nice to have.
The use of electronics for pacing during racing is an interesting topic. This year at the first LAVRA race, the USA Cycling Official told us that they were not going to allow electronics at Nationals. However, we would be allowed a "coach" to call splits (which we always get anyway). I assumed that would be the case. At Masters Nationals this year, they allowed all electronics which is most beneficial in pursuit. Last year, I competed at Worlds and the UCI commissionaires removed all electronics from the bike unless it was under the seat. Hence, SRMs are many times seen under seats. I am not sure what will be done at Elite Nationals next month. I am racing team pursuit so electronics is not that necessary and we will have a split caller. I suspect they will follow UCI rules and no visible electronics.
In practice, I am not able to look at the electronics for the 500 meters and flying 200. I am going to fast and the goal is to ride the black line. If I looked down for an instant, I would be off the black line.
For individual pursuit, having speed or cadence is nice for pacing but someone calling split times is very effective.

To my left is DC hardguy Ramon Benitez. The guy behind me in the Z-Team kit yelled at me for my bars. "You can't ride those, they're illegal". I told him to talk to the commissaire. He took off on a solo break shortly thereafter, and we caught him on the next lap without too much trouble. I heard him yapping behind me for a bit, then he was nowhere to be found.
