I rode my Gazelle to work today, great fun. Heavy traffic but it makes little difference. Had one flat but fixed it in about 10 minutes. This evening I decided to put a floor pump on that tire to see how well my frame pump had done earlier in the day. Lo! it was over 140psi. Not bad. But wait, the wheel won't spin freely. Well, what the ...? There a broken spoke on the rear. Dang, when did that happen? Must have been near home because I had no trouble on the ride. Okay, so tomorrow I take the Bianchi.

You have a whole bunch of stuff right in your back yard. Up towards Spada Lake, on the south side of Hwy 2, singletrack at Lord Hill and Paradise Vally Conservation Area, and a lot more.

Matt will most probably correct me here, but I think it's the Issaquah-Preston trail..

Finally got some of my weekend's wedding trip photos off my phone. Drove over to eastern Washington Friday, and stopped in at the Iron Horse State Park section that has that cool two-mile long disused rail tunnel that's now a MUP:
Spooky inside! If you have any imagination, riding alone through this thing can put you in certain mood. Dark, damp sepulchral grey walls gliding by in the headlamps, total isolation from the outside. Never knew I was a bit claustrophobic.
Then I met up with fellow C&Ver @scozim for the first time. After briefly showing off his varied collection of vintage rides, he took me on a tour of some nicely pitched forest service roads near his house. Not so steep that you die climbing them or have to ride the brakes all the way down. Scott was a little fitter and faster than I, but on this ride I think for the first time, I actually took better pictures than my riding buddy did. (It probably helps that I'm not in any of them).
the next day, I rode around the little Columbia riverside community where my nephew was getting hitched. This is about a mile south of where the famous Gorge Amphitheatre is located.
And my future nephew-in-law Steffan from Germany joined me for awhile, riding my DeRosa. Only a mile or so until the rear tire flatted on some the extra sharp flinty gravel they have around there.
Obligatory wedding shot: Newlyweds Anthony and Ila cutting the cake; little brother/best man Lucas looks on to make sure nobody gets too knifey:
The wedding ceremony was in a little park at river's edge, and the bride surprised everyone by arriving from upriver in a canoe piloted by her dad. I went for a little twilight ride in the bridal canoe while taking a break from the feasting a drinking.

I'm on day three of a STRAVA training regime. 10, one-minute full on blasts, with two minutes between. Had to ride to the scene of the crime and back, just a few miles. Tomorrow it's 8, two-minute full-on blast (or as STRAVA calls them 'Power Intervals'). If you don't hear from me tomorrow, send out a search party to Huckleberry Lane.

Good for you Ed. I've done those intervals on the trainer (in the dead of winter). 'Only a minute' at full effort sounds easy but those 60 seconds just crawled by for me. I thought I'd blow a fuse. Great workout but YIKES it was hard. Good for your heart if your heart is fit enough. Danger and opportunity.
Actually I did that out on the SRT one afternoon when I was wearing a heart monitor. I hit 174 bpm (62 yrs old at the time) during that blast. Gave me a wee headache so I decided "OK, punched that ticket. No need to ever do that again."

Back to Huckleberry Lane again, but this time for 8, 2-minute, give it all you got, pedal to the metal, 'power intervals'. Cricky, there weren't much power left to get home, LOL. Again I went 42/14, but next time STRAVA is telling me do these, I think I'll try 52/16 instead.
Tomorrow's a 'holiday', and Saturday's schedule calls for an endurance ride, so planning for the CCRT event.

Wow, more great pics - love the ones from your Eastern Washington trip in particular, Tim. And Matt, that Reecer Canyon looks cool; I'm going to have to look that one up.
Here are pics from yesterday - the first off-road ride with the recently-acquired Klein at Lord Hill Regional Park: Lord Hill ? Washington Trails Association
Can you spot the frog?
Boy, was I beat after two hours on these trails! Lots of technique to hone before I get anything more than competent here, but the fun will be in the attempt

You guys out west have a lot of great riding. Nice pictures as well.
No pictures, but was about 15 miles into a ride on my gravel bike today and the right brifter broke a spring. Better today than during my 50 mile gravel ride/race on Sunday, but it was more gear up from the river than I was anticipating.
Have an all day thing tomorrow, so spent the evening moving my Sram Rival stuff from my Trek 760 to the Poprad. The Poprad fears hills no more (30 ring pulling 32 cog). And, the T760 is now a blank canvas for a winter project. Happy hour delayed, but not cancelled.

Pretty routine stuff these days, I guess, but still sounds kinda scary.
Fairly boring commute, but a nice piece of filmmaking. You're not in Victoria are you? I've ridden around there quite a bit, but didn't recognize anything in your video.

No I'm in Abbotsford.
The ride is pretty mellow, which I like, and has bike paths for all but a small portion through the old downtown zone (about 3-4 blocks). One small steep hill otherwise gentle rolling slopes for a 25 minute commute. I work in a facility with 600 staff and so far, I see 2 of us cycle commute

We did the 5th annual fall CCRT ride today. Anyone not there today missed a great ride! Cool dry weather, clouds mixed with brilliant sun, miles of smooth clean pavement! 46.75 miles.
At the start, L to R: Prowler, Top506, otg, my sweetie/stoker Sharon, me, bikemore, Ed., Spiker. Scottryder joined us later.
This is one of the few CCRT rides that no one had a flat. So instead, Prowler's bike came up lame with a broken spoke. As Scottryder offered advice he tweaked the wheel straighter and continued on.
First stop, Nickerson State Park.
L to R: otg, Spiker, Ed., Scottryder, Top506, bikemore.
After reaching the Wellfleet trailhead our first priority was lunch.
Then a run over to the Atlantic.
A seal was cavorting in the water, being camera-shy though.
Thanks to Top for bumping us all, thanks to my sweetie for the oatmeal cookies, thanks to all for the great company. (And dang, those guys were fast!)

Just an easy, no cares given, 20 miler on the '79 Trek.
Beautiful FLAT scenery
There were actually some short 200 yard or so climbs today, one of them at 12%. So not totally flat.
Came across this guy just sitting looking out over his pond.
And this odd piece of art work/sculpture sitting at a small park along side the bike trail.
A nice easy ride with no real goal and no cycle computer. Nothing but an old bike with DT shifters and toe cages.
