Wearing UCI Jersey - Not appropriate, noob alert?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Wearing UCI Jersey - Not appropriate, noob alert?

I see this UCI jersey on PBK, it looks nice and not 'too much' compared to the rainbow jersey. Though I wonder is it not appropriate or noob alert to wear a UCI jersey like this one?

Wear what you want. If anyone laughs at you for it, that's their problem.

Personally, I would not wear it as I have never won a world championship. But that's just me. Perhaps you have.

It's not a world champ jersey it's just a UCI promotional jersey.

Appropriate for what situation? If you're going to a funeral or testifying in front of a jury, probably not. If you're riding a bike, I'd say there's bigger things to think about than the graphics - like whether the zipper is long enough to get decent ventilation or how much crap you can stuff in the pockets.

Concerning the stripes, serious cyclists aren't likely to mistake you for a world champion racer. Non-cyclists might think the rainbow colored spandex is a gay pride thing.

Do you think all the people in the mall with Chicago Bulls #23 jerseys are Michael Jordan? Does everyone you see in a Senators jersey play in the NHL? Who cares whether it's "appropriate" or not? If you like the jersey wear it.

If you like it wear it, who cares what other people think. I still don't understand how some people criticize someone for wearing a pro team jersey. To me its the same thing as wearing your favorite NFL, NBA, MLB, or NHL jersey.

I'm surprised the jersey doesn't have the UCI's official motto on it

"Abrutis Depuis 1900"

Does that mean you should not wear a solid yellow jersey because you've never been on top of TdF GC?

You may not wear any type of jersey without BF approval.
Geez, when you were growing up, did you like being dressed up by your parents? Did you seek their approval with your choice of wardrobe? This is not the time to start seeking approval from a bunch of strangers on the interwebz.

Actually not a bad looking jersey. Can't go too wrong when the primary colors are black and white.

Of course my fashion sense has been called into question in the past.

One of the reasons I avoid wearing a yellow jersey....even on the MUP kids in strollers waving, entire families cheering...I feel like I've let them down.

Other sport fans commonly wear hats and jerseys of there favorite teams and they are not a member of that team! That's why they're for sale ya dopes...Now stop with the silly answers, you're making yourselfs look foolish...

There are many cyclists (myself included) who won't wear any award jerseys that they haven't earned. It's a form of reverence, such as it is, to the culture of the sport.

That being said, some folks will buy a TdF yellow jersey and ride it--no biggie, and I don't think anyone would actually say anything. So, at the end of the day, wear what you want.

Of course all that is probably moot in this case because this looks like a promotional jersey and not an award jersey.
