Official site https://www.amgentourofcalifornia.com...a-clarita.html Lists Santa Clarita. That seems to be the closest it get to Pasadena, but head to Santa Barbara; the other direction.

I must be in a different internet, I don't see anything on the site about second Saturday or about stage 1 in Santa Clarita. As far as I can tell, they didn't release the list of cities yet. Last year they did it in late November.

They put "May 2014" on the banner but the rest of the site is still talking about the 2013 race. They are certainly not starting in Escondido in May 2014 because this year has been a massive flop and city officials chose to sit out next year. There has been talk of Carlsbad bidding for the spot, but the latest is that Carlsbad is out too.
It's too early to make definite predictions, but it sounds like all remaining enthusiastic prospective host cities for 2014 are in Central Valley.

Hope this is true. I'd like to see a stage that starts in Pasadena, climbs 39 and ends in Wrightwood.
