All I want is a simple photo/file hosting site without a ton of garbage on the site. Dropbox was perfect with the "public" folder, but they changed recently and doesn't work as well.

Crap, I switched to Dropbox about 2 years ago to get away from the photobucket crap site. I don't like the complications of Flickr either as that was the first host I went to. Anyone else not see my pics? They show up for me, but I'm also logged into Dropbox and they're my own.

Yesterday I took my Giant Toughroad SLR 1 2016 for a long trip in the Carpatian Mountains, in the center of Romania. I did 150km, 50km on forest gravel roads, most of them downhill. The bike had performed flawlessly, I had to go a little slower on the bad sections of the downhill, than the guys with MTB's, but other than that the bike was just fun to ride.
I've got a set of bikepacking bags and I plan a 3 days adventure around the hills of Transylvania.

Oh god. I will never ride 78 miles again in this heat. Sometimes rain isn't a bad thing, and we had a rare day with no rain, uh.

I did an easy 15 miles this morning before the storms drove me back to the house. I did see a bald eagle on a power pole but couldn't get to my phone in time to snap a pic.

Not exactly a hybrid (which is what makes the story more special)... We had a bicyclist in our Sunday School class this morning. He was on his way from Naples, FL, to Boston, MA, in support of a charity that supplies kids with bike helmets. He's been riding up US-17 (sometimes called the Coastal Highway) up from FL, and the northern terminus is in our fair town of Winchester, VA. From here, he'll continue up US-11 through Maryland and Pennsylvania and into New York. Neat story and cause.
On the way out of church, I checked out his ride. It's an unassuming 2000s era Trek 800 Sport (their bottom line mountain bike) with a simple rack on the back. He's "credit card touring", staying in hotels and churches as he makes his way up the coast, so he's not doing fully loaded touring, but the bike really reminded me that I so often get caught up in "gear", and it's just not that important. His bike has Shimano Tourney twist shifters, a Tourney freewheel and derailleurs, and what look like cheap Bell 26x1.95 mountain bike tires. And he's riding it all 2,000 miles up the coast from Florida to Mass.
Cool.

Which proves that when properly assembled and adjusted the bottom line stuff can be quite durable if not abused too much.

Did a hilly 49.2km loop with 946m of climbing on loose, dusty, rocky stuff.

Rode some of Black Creek Trail in Clay County, FL today. 8 mile paved path, but was about to rain so I turned around and will come back another day. Most of path is next to highway with several busy intersections to cross. One of the very few dedicated multi-mile walk/bike paths near me.

300km in 2 and a half days
Hi guys, I took my Giant Toughroad for a weekend ride on the roads over the hills of Transilvania, Romania. We had a wonderful time, done 300km, we had no issues, I used the new Schwalbe Marathon Mondial 29x2.0 tires, they are very good tires, not to heavy and great grip on road and gravel as well. I carried a bit to much weight in my panniers, just to see how the bike handles with a lot of additional wight, as this was my first multi-day ride and I can say that the bike likes to be taken on long trips both on good and tough roads... Can't wait for the next adventure.

It's funny, I commented on a picture thread how awesome it would be to see so much sky as everywhere you go in western PA is under a canopy of trees on the roads and on the rail trails. Comments I got back were, 'that would be awesome to ride under a canopy of trees as I'm out in the open all the time.' LOL. It's all in what you're use to.

The wind blows pretty good here in North Texas, with a lot of open space with nothing to block it or shield us (and it always seems to be a headwind!!). It's nothing to ride in 15 - 20mph wind on most days.

Last evening my Hybrid took me as far as the front yard to play chase bike while helping teach my granddaughter how to ride a bike (with no training wheels.) She has been putting around with training wheels and never really learned how to balance the bike. Her dad and I took her training wheels and pedals off so she can learn to balance. Last night she did pretty good and can coast until she slows down and has to put her feed down. Tonight The old Trek 720 Multi-Track may have to chase for real as I think it's time to put the pedals back on so she has a place to put her feet while coasting. If that works out we may actually have to make her pedal!!!!! I think I'll mount the GoPro up and get some video!
