Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

A Specialized jersey on sale (never tried any of their kit) and their SWAT mini tool that attaches to the seat.

New Centaur calipers, Tektro R341 levers, Tektro R720 cross levers, Jagwire cables/housing and bar tape. Everything else is original, except maybe the saddle.

And this thing is stiff and fast.

Just ordered a Bontrager Flare RT taillight to replace my Cygolite Hotshot pro, which no longer holds a charge. I hear it's a good daytime tail light, which is what I need it for.

and one of their core lightweight jerseys in the last 4 months. full disclosure...still have 7 other rapha jerseys but really liking their entry-level

They look good in white! I love mine, super happy I bought them. If the LBS had white I would have done it, but I bought black.

Rapha Men's Pro Team Lightweight Wind Jacket

Excellent jacket! Mesh web on the back for venting. Easily fits in a jersey pocket along with a set of knee warmers.

The otherwise fine Perl Izumi I squeezed back into last fall is now flapping like a sail and a downsizing was called for. (The Rapha M fits me perfectly at 6'0" 163 lbs.)

I've had white shoes (not these though) for a few years and they stayed pretty clean surprisingly.

A spare Campagnolo Veloce 12/23 10sp cassette - I just put a new one on the bike, but I'm a little concerned that 10sp parts might start to become more scarce, so I want to have my next cassette lined up.
A Selle Italia Flite 1990 saddle. My trusty (~17-year-old) Max Flite is literally falling apart, with duct tape holding the cover together, but the mounts are starting to come loose at the back. I'm replacing it with some trepidation (all saddle buying is a bit of a gamble), but rather than risk saddle disintegration and seat post impalement, I bit the bullet. The Flite 1990 looks close dimensionally, and with a real leather cover, Ti rails, ~230g weight and a classic look, it hits all the marks. Fingers crossed that it's comfy.

I just bought 5 of these myself. I've gone through 3 tubes in the last 2 weeks. 1 on my bike, 1 I gave to a neighbor, and the third onto my daughter's bike. I only have one spare left. I patch them in batches but I don't have any left to patch. I needed new anyway because I now ride a 700x28 tire in front and all of my tubes were up to 700x25. I know they will work anyway but now they're gone. These Vittorias are perfect because they are 25/28, not so big to fit a 32 or larger, and will still fit the 23 if necessary. Only my daughter's bike still has 23, in fact she has my tires that I replaced with 25 and 28.

i'll give the 4d bibs a try

trying to get used to the pryzewalski 4d bibs. ordered large size as i always have with the 3d bibs.

the 4d's eliminate the "extra" material in the front so no creases but maan, are they tight. haven't gained any

weight since i started using the 3d's but seems like i should have ordered xl. the 4d pad is fine and comparable

to the 3d. the 4d's also add an extra inch or so of coverage down the thigh along with a really tight seam circling

around the thigh. leaves a noticeable impression for quite a while. keep thinking they'll loosen up a little but

worn and washed all three pairs (and line dried) a few times now and no dice. keeping them as they may be incentive enough

to drop 5-10 lbs and see if it helps (doubtful). will probably just relegate them to rides under 50 miles/local stuff.

when i'm going out all day or on a long ride, i'll be reaching for the 3d's instead. will not be ordering the 4d's again.
