Satiator mistake

HELLO ALL !
I have made a huge mistake and charged a 48v battery on the 52v profile. The display reads 'Shorted' then '17.5v' and back to Shorted again, and so on.
Is this fatal and expensive? Can anyone help me with instructions as to how to rectify this GIANT BOOBY?

Thanks so much ! Oscdav.

I'm a relative newbie with batteries but, if you haven't already done it, keep the battery where you wouldn't mind having a fire (hibachi, fireplace etc). Even if you're able to "save" it by discharging or whatever, I wouldn't trust it anymore.

First, as noted by @2old - get it to a safe fire place.

Next; I'd put a small load on it - something like an old 60W 120V incandescent bulb which is ~ 240 ohm, and let it discharge for an hour, then recheck it.

Shouldn’t the BMS on the battery trigger the cutoff? Or does it only cuts off on discharge?
