New bike Friday!!!! With PICS and Di2
Short version: (pictures below the text)
Picked up a 2019 Specialized Roubaix Comp Ultegra-Di2
Blew my $2000 budget out the window but got a last year model deal
When doing research weight was always a hard thing to find (done on feedbacksports scale)
Stock weight 18.58 lbs 8.43 kg
Weight RTR 19.51 lbs 8.85kg (selle pro seat, water bottle cages, ultegra pedals)
DT swiss r470 with turbo pro tires and rotors
Complete front wheel 2.98lbs 1.35kg
Complete rear wheel 4.17lbs 1.89kg
Long version:
After many nights staying up, reading reviews, checking specs, having 20+ tabs open in chrome i have upgraded my 2011 GT road bike.
Was looking for a little more comfort for longer rides but also keeping speed
Stopped at REI, disappointed with the Cannondales, went to LBS that had Giant/Specialized and after over 2 hours, probably 3 and total riding about 7 bikes price ranged $1680-$6000
The final 4 bikes were:
2019 Giant Defy advanced 2 (nice paint job, great price but brake system? was not a fan and weighed 22lbs for carbon frame?)
2019 Specialized Diverge e5 (nice paint job, aluminium frame, decent price but boring to ride)
order 2020 Specialized Roubaix sport
2019 or 18 Specialized Roubaix expert (nice and light with ultegra and snappy to ride but the paint job was to dark, the blue/purple looked good in the sun but wasn't appealing)
To be honest i have only had SRAM on bikes since i can remember, all of these bikes i was testing had Shimano 105/Ultegra, i did not like the moving brake lever, i was going insane, they did shift good but did not like them. During the test rides i rode a little bit higher end bike with electronic shifters, i loved it but the price tag was a little much for me
After pacing around the store, texting photos to the GF and getting the reply they all "look nice" a grey/yellow bike caught my attention, it was a 2018 so had a sale tag on it, instantly attracted!
Went to check it out and it had Di2 which i liked on the expensive bike from earlier. If your a SRAM lover and dont like the brake lever movement, check out Di2
Took it out for a ride and said this is the one, brought it back to the store, lined up now the final 5 bikes and the LBS worker came up and gave me the bottom line pricing on the 2018/19 R-Expert and the 2018 R-Comp then i went all in

I didn't really like Die at first, it wasn't what I was used to. But I came to appreciate it quickly. You'll love yours.

$800 off original price
Got my first ride in today, felt great. I purposely went on roads that i avoided or had to ride off my seat and light handlebar grip and am super happy with the ride.

After several hundred miles there is no more numbness on those important male bits.
After years of riding long, narrow saddles, the shorty looks odd. But heck, it works. No more numb nutz.
You got a great bike, enjoy the ride and be safe out there.

Neat bike.
Function over form sometimes. I get it. Whats most important is that saddle and post are comfortable. No point in being uncomfortable on the bike and if this is whats needed, then cool.

Congrats, you got the same bike I got, I'm sure you'll love it! On a group ride last Saturday, one rider was telling me how brutal a descent was because she could feel every bump in the road, and I was kind of surprised because it seemed like it was average quality terrain. I was even tempted to go over some of the worst of the broken pavement on the ride to get that cobbles experience, although I didn't want to risk a flat.

Bought a 2019 in the gray color last weekend. There is nothing about it that I don’t love.

I bought a 2017 Roubaix with Di2, and, well, it's addictive. You'll never go back, and you'll love the ride.
Now get out there...
