In answer to the op, I don't believe the speed increase would be mearly half as much but even less due to the imbalance between the hairy and non-hairy leg!
That being said, treating wounds are easier on a hairless leg and are less likely to get infected from road debris, and not taking advantage of an aerodynamic advantage, no matter how small, would be foolish if you were in the business of winning races. If your not than let your freak flag fly.😉

I pick up a lot of road grit on my legs that my front tire churns up. Hairy legs tend to make washing out that grit more difficult.
I don't want my legs marinating in road dust, which I imagine consists of everything including asbestos from brake pads, oil, anti-freeze, transmission fluid, rubber particles from tires, oxidized steel, animal and human fecal matter, urine, vomit, blood, trash, used diapers, roadkill ... pretty much anything you can imagine being discarded intentionally or unintentionally along roadways.
I would prefer to have all of that crap getting washed down the shower drain, and not hiding out on my skin and in my pores underneath (un-aerodynamic) body hair.

I will admit that I've had this issue once, but only after shaving just before a damp ride - road grit irritated the hell out of my shins and it took a day or so to recover. No problems since then; I've avoided making the same mistake and I won't shave before a ride (unless there's several hours between, like a morning shave/evening ride).

might depend on the strength of the leg. I am not sure if it makes much difference other than you looking very weird with one shaved leg and one not.

Curious though, does shaving close up one's pores?

Tenderloin is a different muscle, much smaller and more tender (hence the name?). They are 2-3" in diameter, 12-14" long. Maybe a pound/pound and a half.

I also don’t buy the healing from injury thing.
There might be some aero advantage, but it must be very small.

The Specialized wind tunnel tests were a nice confirmation. I have noticed it's easier to apply sunscreen, and road rash is easier to deal with (bandages don't stick to hair that well). But I try not to crash that often, frankly.
I have no problems admitting that I do it purely out of vanity.
But also, it's a real handy way to tell which wheel to avoid in the group ride.
