Just bought a 1980's Trek 640 - Did I do well?

Let me preface this by saying I feel like I did well. I'm more curious about what you all think it's worth.

Some components have been updated, the frame is in excellent shape. It looks awesome.

I paid $250.

Seems more than fair for a nice, clean bike with brifters, a selle italia saddle, a nice new rack, etc. If it serves the purpose you got it for and you enjoy it, then you did well.

You did well , looks to be in beautiful shape . I also see newer STI levers , nice upgrade . I don't see a problem garnering maybe $350 , in season .

Did Trek make a 640 in that time period. Look up the serial number on the Vintage trek site, you can find the year and model.

It's a 1983 Trek 640 by the serial number.

Fork looks a little bent to me, could be just the picture. Looks clean and well put together. I think even at $300 you would've gotten a fair deal. $250 is a decent deal.

Looks like the 640 was only made 1 year. Would that help the value any?

It's just the picture. The aliasing between the spokes and the fork make it look funny. Thanks for confirmation guys. I've always just used a mountain bike in the city too, but this should be fun (unless I sell it).

I paid $300 for a Trek 640 this Summer (Denver area). All original, but the paint is not as nice as yours. Thought that was a good price for a 531 frame with Campy and Cinelli parts. I love how it rides - enjoy yours.

At $250 you got a good if not great deal depending on on how well the conversion to STI brifters was done. If it fits keep it an ride it. As for value as it sits about $350 as whole parted out close to $500.

+1, although I would say if you bought it as a rider you did pretty darn well.

Oh yeah, I bought this one to ride. Haha, Flog00, I hope the seller doesn't feel bad about selling it to me. He was a really good guy and helped me out a lot.

It's going to be a great bike for riding the towpath once I get some fenders on it to protect the paint.
