Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

7Mesh Strategy Jacket - Mens - $150
Strategy Jacket Men's

7Mesh Strategy Jacket - Womens - $135
https://shop.7meshinc.com/Product/Strategy-Jacket-Womens

I'm not a fan of waterproof/breathable fabrics based on several experiences in the distant past where these so called "breathable" fabrics left me sodden and frozen, once to the point of hypothermia. This jacket was worn for a 27°f ride start today however, and I am seriously rethinking this, especially for very cold conditions and moderate efforts. It was able to cope surprisingly well with a base layer and thermal jersey underneath and only started to build up moisture and feel clammy as the temperature rose above 40°.

Apparently these fabrics have come a long way in the past 15 years and I'm really happy with the way this jacket performed. Fit and quality are impeccable.

That 7Mesh looks like great jacket. Quite a discount, too. Did you find their sizing chart accurate?

I bought a closeout Synergy jersey from 7mesh back in October. I've had a few chances to use it, and it functions really well. The sizing chart was accurate for me.

I was reading that the V2 was introduced in 2015 so I would be pretty sure that they are V2 models. There doesn't seem to be any markings on the packaging indicating V2 or not.

Pick up in store?

I got an email from Performance Bikes about Black Friday deals. I wanted a +1 and was browsing on Nashbar and Performance Bikes and the local Giant dealers. My Trek Emonda ALR 5 is a GREAT bike. I love it. But I wanted an additional bike that I might use during New Jersey winter when there is salt on the road and/or in light rain conditions.

I come across a 2016 $999 Fuji SL 2.5 (using their second-level "C10" carbon) with 30% back in points (that is around $300 in store credit simply for purchasing the bike). It is a 105-equipped (except for lessor-though-still Shimano brakes and Oval crankset). About 17.8lbs with stock wheels. Cool?

Ok, I pull the trigger. A couple days later I have somehow $400 in store credit and the Shimano RS500 (their "Ultegra" level wheelset) is selling for $339 with some coupons that brings it down to $289 with free shipping. So I use points and obtain a free wheelset and Fuji's 52cm bike has a top tube that is about 1/2cm larger than my Trek. Ok, so I find an 80cm stem and still have points left over for 105 pedals and a carbon bottle cage and garmin sensors.

So for $999 I have a:
new '16 Fuji SL 2.5 (MSRP $2,000, now selling for $1,599 after black friday)
a new stem
new Ultegra wheelset
new 105 pedals
new carbon bottle cage
new Garmin speed and cadence sensors

To round out the bike:
I had some Michelin Service Pro4 tires, a Garmin computer mount
I did all assembly except for running cables through the frame...paid my LBS $39 to do that

Performance Bike was like Santa this year.

Did you have to pick it up in store? I'm thinking of getting this ride when they have another 30% back, but it says only shipping to Performance store. I'm just wondering if you had to get it in store or ordered it to your door? I'm asking because I'm in Canada and would have to get it sent to my address in the US.
Don't think your deal can be beat!
I guess I could just ring Performance, but thought I'd ask.
Great idea about wheels too.
Otherwise I can get it through Nashbar, but they seemed to have ended their extra bonuses.
Cheers.

Yes, very accurate.

You can call them and discuss sizing too. Last time I called I was transferred to a guy named Ian who I later found out was VP of development and designed many of the patterns himself.

Vittoria Zaffiro 700x23 only for $6.99 from Chain Reaction Cycles. This is the lowest I've seen for this tire.

Vittoria Zaffiro Road Bike Tyre | Chain Reaction Cycles

Continental Grand Sport EXTRA in sizes 700x23, 700x25 & 700x28 for $26.49 from Chain Reaction. This is the lowest I've seen these too. The "Extra" contains an extra layer of NyTech flat protection over the "Race" version.

BD is having a end of year sale, and some cheap ass bikes to be had. I know some of these are trash bikes, but a few in here under $150, which is pretty insane.

$310 for new Garmin vector 2s powermeter. This is the cheapest new powermeter I've seen. I think a new one just came out so It's not cutting edge but a good entry point for someone who's never had one.

Thanks for the head's up. I was looking for a deal on the 28mm size. I pulled the trigger. Now to see how long their "untracked" mail delivery takes.

I'm so happy to see these prices. I'm getting a fantastic tire for less than what I'm paying for my other tires now.

This guy sells SRAM Etap groupsets on ebay and amazon but selling through CL too. CL allows him to avoids the 10% fee Ebay takes give you lower prices.

Bought from him, its legit, via paypal so you have buyer protection.

Merlin just came out with another 10% off on components and groupsets. Although their inventory on Campagnolo is a little low, I just picked up a complete Dura Ace 9150 DI2 kit with bottom bracket and 11-30 cassette for $2139. Free shipping as well.

Have been watching for a while and have not found anywhere cheaper yet.

Performancebike is having 25% off your entire purchase (excludes bikes and "other exclusions"). I picked up nice Park tools for doing my own chain replacement. Sale is good through this weekend; online and in store.

Be very careful when buying from Performance. The discounts are usually smoke and mirrors. They will raise the price and then attach a 25% discount in order to make it appear you're getting a great deal. This goes for almost everything they sell.

Example: The Spin Doctor G3 Workstand is showing as $219.99 with 25% off. Which gives you a price of approximately $165.00. This workstand usually sells for anywhere between $129 - $159 depending on the "sale" they are advertising that day. The good thing is if they lower the price below what you paid you can get a refund for the difference if it's within 30 days.

Well, that's a full 105 setup, so, it wouldn't 'hurt' to go with a 105 crank on that and it'd be an upgrade from what's currently on there and it's affordable. Ultegra would be similar, but comparable.. slightly lighter. You could put one of those FSA cranks on there, but, IMHO the Shimano 105/Ultegra are better.

Sometimes they do this, but they really have some good deals quite often. For instance, they had a Feedback Sports Omnium trainer listed for $429, which was $29 more than any other place. I got $102 in promotional discounts which made it $327 - $73 less than any other places. I just bought a pair of rotors at normal price and got $25 off, and the list goes on.

Just always look at the prices on Amazon or other bike store before purchasing.

I may not have been as clear as I wanted to be regarding buying from Performance. You can get some great deals, you just have to watch there site and monitor the prices until you see the lowest one available. I just don't like when they do things like jacking up the price and then make you think you're getting some great deal when it is in fact their regular price.
