Eddy Merckx Strada

Hi everyone,

Curious about my Merckx Strada. It's in good shape but, unfortunately, at the in-laws in another state (Ohio) so no additional pictures until I can travel again (live in California). It's a 55-56 cm frame and I don't know too much about it. I've got a Dura Ace 7400 groupset on there (brakes, cranks, BB, hoods, hubs, stem shifters) with a Thomson Masterpiece seat post and a 3T Quid Quill stem (I had a Dura Ace stem on there but it was too long. Shoulda kept it.). Handlebars are ITM Super Italia 26x430mm.

The rims are laced to H Plus Son Archetypes (that I built but had a bike shop finish up). The seat is a Soma Fab Hishou, meaning it looks like the classic Selle Italia Flite but it's not (I couldn't find one for a reasonable price when I built it up). I guess they're not making the Hishou anymore either?

Any way, all the parts are in really sharp shape with minimal wear (took a long time to get them). The only ones with significant wear are the Dura Ace 7401 pedals.

What say you?

Love the bike and I've been waiting to see what the gang says about it. I'll toss out $750 just to get the conversation started. It's a more modern build so I think the downtube shifters suppress the value a bit. I'd think more around $850 if it had 7400 STI.

I'm no expert on what fat wallets are willing to spend on a well-kept Merckx, so I could be off by 50% for all I know. Let's hear from others...

I would say you’re a little light but would not be surprised to see that sell for $900 or so. It’s a Strada, so not a high end frameset, but the DA alone is worth $500 plus the wheels.
Very nice bike!

Thanks, everyone! Still on the fence on keeping it because, I mean, it's a very fun bike to ride. But as I haven't travelled in forever it's been a few years since I've actually ridden it.
