Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I've been riding the older bike (Gunnar) but I can climb better on the Seven. Can't switch the rear wheel because Campagnolo vs Shimano. Tried it once years ago.
The only rear wheel I have with Campagnolo freehub is a Cole wheel which has a broken freehub body and I can't find a replacement.

This summer I sold the Ksyrium wheels I used to run on the Seven after 4 or 5 failures. I had paid for a new rear rim and wouldn't have put it on if I still had it. No sense risking messing it up and making it harder to sell.

Rear wheel failures are a part of riding for me, always have been. With the Open Pro rims I seem to get around 10K miles before they crack. Similar with the MA40 rims back when they were a thing. The original rear rim on my mtb lasted a little over a year before it showed a bunch of cracks. I have a DT Swiss rim on there now and it seems pretty sturdy.

Ok, so you did find a new hoop, good. Those are usually some pretty stout rims, I have had quite a few. Not the lightest, nor the most aero. But pretty tough. I looked on ebay and saw quite a few andcwould have suggested that if you hadn't found a replacement.

I had one shaped like this but with a longer manly man handle. I would spray it with Pam or WD 40 so the snow wouldn't stick to it.

Yes, if you're getting an early jump on planting shrubs.

The shop that had it is a huge place with 2 buildings. They have so much stuff I wanted to hang out and maybe max out my credit card. They even have a Colnago tandem, along with a ton of vintage bikes.

For some reason I seem to be dealing with anxiety today. I have no idea why I feel like this though. Which causes me to think my subconscious is trying to tell me I forgot something. Which causes more anxiety.
Under other circumstances this would be nothing 10 or 12 beers couldn't fix. But I'm trying to not be that guy anymore.
So it's a bit of a problem.

Yeah, that's me and ebay. Yesterday I almost bought Rououbaix frame because it would have matched the flat black Tarmac that I have. Cuz I need another bike? 4 Tarmacs aren't enough?

But, you don't have a Roubaix.

You probably have enough Tarmacs though.

I had a heavy-duty ice scraper, when I lived in Delaware. It got a lot of use.

I know why I'm anxious. But I'm also not going to bed as early as I should so I'm compensating by higher than normal caffeine intake. So that's not helping.

Ditto on the second thing. Plus, I'm job hunting so I'm not just not drinking but can't even take advantage of some new Illinois legislation that went in to effect Jan 1 last year.

You can send me a Tarmac to make room for the Roubaix.

Yeah, I hate it when that happens. Usually there's the general low level of anxiety that I can live with but then there will be something (like maybe armed insurrection at the Capitol, for example) that pushes it over the line. Riding can help.

I told the guy that that was incorrect - that by the time my wife got done with her revenge shopping it would actually cost me at least twice that much.
Luckily, I'd gotten a bonus from work, so I could point to that and say I thought I'd earned spending a fraction of it on me.

Of course, since then we've spent money tearing out the back yard and getting insulation, and now getting rid of the asbestos in the process of getting a new HVAC system - all of which are high priorities for her - so I think she's been adequately compensated. Luckily (again) for me, she's not one to want trinkets, but give her a chance to make major home improvements and she chomps at the bit.

Mine too. We've already done: complete light fixture replacement, two complete interior paintings, new carpet, kitchen countertops, total makeover of the family room, replaced two water heaters, one new HVAC unit (the old one died), back patio resurfacing, and I can't think of what else. We are about to tear out the landscaping in the back and replace most of it. And our house is only 12 years old.

Best thing for me has been my wife going back to work this past fall. She no longer has the time to come up with or supervise new projects.

Although oddly enough, it's on the other side of the Mason Dixon line, which people use as shorthand to define the South. But Delaware is actually EAST OF, rather than NORTH OF the line.
