Addiction 2021.1

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I have found that most of them seat with very little force if they're lined up right and that they are impossible to seat if they're not.

They're actually sort of fun to use. Just drive them in and pop them off.

My Seven has Campagnolo 10 speed and it's the first Campagnolo equipped bike I've had. The chain pins are ridiculously hard to push out, even with their special tool. I replaced the chain and screwed up and had to lengthen the chain after the first try, so then I had 2 dubious connections. I rode it for weeks and one day it came apart a few miles from home. I was able to push out the pin where it broke using my multi tool and put in a quick link.

I bought another chain and borrowed the tool from the LBS and it has been ok since.

I told the story before of how a side plate came loose on my Shimano chain once when I was in the mountains. It started making noise and I just wanted to get out of the mountains so I didn't even stop to check it. Lots of descending but some climbing too and when I got done one plate was just hanging by one pin and the other plate carried the load during those climbs. Maybe I didn't make enough watts to finish it off because I was so tired.

More than once I had rollers fall out on the old chains and just the pin was left. Mr. Maintenance.

Almost as dumb as the guy who wore his employee ID badge around his neck so it was clearly visible. He was quickly identified and fired for cause, which likely means no state unemployment benefits.

Then there is this brain trust from NJ who gave his name and home state to the media while he described how he stormed the Capitol:

Ewing NJ man who attended Capitol riot arrested by the FBI (mycentraljersey.com)

I hope so. I have been boycotting Taco Bell since they pitched it. Actually have not been to Taco Bell for quite some time before they pitched it, but not going back until the 7 layer is back.

If you stand on the pedals and the chain skips over the teeth on the cassette you need a new cassette. When this happens it feels like you are stripping a gear and it is violent. This assumes obvious things are checked, like chain wrap around the cog and derailleur tension.
Is this the same bike that had the chain hanging limp? I hope you got that sorted before you put on a new chain.
THis is the same bike. Chain hanging not a problem since I lubed the RD pivot points and put on new chain. I am still suspecting that fixing chain direction will solve the problem, but will let everyone know.

It would only skip a couple teeth in back when I stood up and really torqued the crank hard with something like 300W. Which for me is a LOT of power.

I put a new Shimano chain on my wife's bike recently and thought the same thing. That link is super tight.

Indoor cycling is a recycle/reuse opportunity.
